Rolling road carb tuning - midlands
Discussion
I've just fitted a pair of Solex ADDHE C40s (Solex's version of DCOE/DHLA 40s) to my car. There are a host of problems with their setup (I've tried the obvious stuff, believe me), and I need an expert set of hands. The jetting ought to be there or thereabouts, and the carbs appear to be in good order - no obvious internal failure / wear.
Does any know of / can recommend a rolling road carb tuning facility, or even one of those fantastic old guys who can tune by ear (I know you've heard of them ) in the East Midlands - as close to Derby as is possible?
It seems to be related to idle mixture and/or balance setup - adjusting neither of which seems to make any difference. Alternatively, the car has a (fixed - Renix) mapped ignition system which probably won't be helping.
Any advice welcomed, although at this stage I just want to hand it over to someone who really knows their trade, and have them hand it back raring to go!
cheers

If they can't help I know of another one in Hinckley that does a lot of classic racing stuff.
You can't remember any other details of this Hinckley company can you, Graham? I could use a tuner with plenty of knowledge of Weber DCOE's myself.
I used to use Boggspeed, near Scarborough, but they are a bit of a trek now that I've moved down to the Midlands.
Sorry about the lack of a reply guys - the forum software seemed a little temperamental when I first joined, and I've just found out the hard way that it wasn't sending me update notifications! D'oh!
Thanks for your advice. Since posting that message I've managed to get the car running (and boy does it make a glorious sound - www.foggyjames.co.uk/inbox/carbnoise.wmv) by sealing a major vacuum leak and using the cold-start enrichment circuit to compensate(ish) for the incorrect jetting. I can now get the car to Power Engineering in Uxbridge, where my mate works.
However, I'll be starting a new thread, as I've got a slightly odd problem with them that I need some help with!
Thanks again,
James
