hey guys
i own a VW Polo 6r 1.4l petrol 2011-2012, i get about 85-90bhp. My goal is to achieve near the 200hp mark, i was thinking about remapping but i dont understand the difference between the stages so if someone can explain to me that would be helpful.
is it worth remapping?

i have looked into supercharging my engine but i am not sure if the supercharger i have chosen is compatible so i will upload some pics and if you guys could advice me.
Is it possible to turbo charge a non turbo engine?
Basically i am happy to hear any suggest to get 200bhp as long as it doesnt cost me a arm and leg so i will be much appreciated if you can give me some rough prices so i get an idea.
I will upload a pic of my car, please dont be fooled its not a gti model it just had the badge and front grill done by the last owner, which doesnt look to bad so no haters.
supercharger ENGINE CODE : CAV CAVE
P/N: 03C145601E
thanks guys

You want to more than double the output of your engine without major work?

Buy a different car.

^^^ This... 1.8T conversion. I would have thought that you could but the engine and get it up and running for less than 1500quid

Then you will need to upgrade brakes as a gar that goes faster is cool, a car that doesn't stop as fast as it goes is not cool.

Then suspension modifications to match and then insure it on a modified policy, all of which will cost more than buying a faster car.

I am all for modifying but what you are suggesting is pretty wild.

If you are hell-bent on modifying then in the first instance a better starting point would be a car who everyone makes go-faster bits for.

I was thinking about a engine swap but i don't want to bump into any hiccups with like mounting brackets being special made because i heard it might cost a lot. so if anyone can suggest which engine i should put in, like for like swap outs without special brackets being made up.

how much is labor for a engine swap?

Is it worth remapping it?

I want to get pops and bangs from the exhaust, i heard, i need to remove the cat but i don't want to be stopped by every police officer on the roads, will they be able to hear a difference?

I am sorry if i sound a bit inexperience its because i have never modified a car internally, this is my first car to which i love to bits so i wont change it, it has the looks but it just doesn't have the power. i am sick and tired of these boyracers overtaking me with there dads new financed BMW or Mercedes. German car all the way wink

also i live in Coventry so in the West Midlands area so if you guys can suggest any decent custom garage i would be much appreciated.

thanks guys

Fabricating different mounts is trivial compared to the other issues you might face during an engine swap with a significant power increase. I suggest you think again about whether it's sensible for you to take on that challenge for yourself.

Also bear in mind that no matter what upgrades you get, there will always be faster cars around you - the vast majority of them relatively standard spec, more comfortable, more reliable and better handling than your heavily upgraded car as well as being easier to insure.

To be honest, give up on the mods, stay in school and get into a career where you will earn enough money to pay somebody else to do your engine swaps. To be frank, you don't seem to have the knowledge so even beginning the job would be ill advised, and the fact you are here asking for people to spoon feed you the answers suggests you aren't willing to do your own homework either.

Fabricating brackets for engine mounts is nothing compared to the expense involved in turbo or supercharging your current engine. It's also unlikely the standard engine would cope with 200bhp without internal modifications (£££) and then you need to think about whether the clutch and transmission will be up to the job - unlikely. You seem to have no concept of the work involved, an engine swap would be significantly cheaper, though still not cheap. Buying a faster car would certainly be cheaper than either option.

Dude i have already mentioned i am inexperience with cars, and sorry to disappoint you but i have already finished school and college with decent grades and now i work full time in a computer industry @age 19 so i think i am doing good with my life. And no one is spoon feeding me, last time i have checked this a forum where questions will be asked and answers will be given, so if you aren't happy with my questions or information i am providing then do yourself a favor and fk off out my forum page. you sound like you are jealous that i am only 19 and driving a nicer car than you.

bye now
That was a pretty quick meltdown wow.

I wouldn't bother modifying something you're not going to keep. It's expensive, will ruin your reliability, will cost a lot more to insure and will cost more to run. Plus that sort of jump is going to require A LOT of money. You'll need to consider fueling, cooling and drive line wear as well as engine wear (probably forged rods etc?).

Maybe think about running that as a daily and getting something else as a project?

I say this as someone with an absolute fortune invested in a 550hp M3 and hope your passion for cars continues, I just don't think this is a worthwhile tangent.

HAHAHAHA its because i hate it when i mention something important and people just trying to be a smart ass and disrespect you, "like i say if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say it".

anyways my point is i know i am inexperienced but should this stop me from modifying my car the answer is easy its NO, i can pick and choose what i do to my car. But yeah i am thinking about engine swap maybe to an 1.8 audi tt engine.

i would put a r32 v6 engine in their but i know my brakes wont take that power wink

Honestly, buy another car.

By the time you've modified that one to be what you want you will have spent a fortune - easily what the car is worth, maybe twice that.

You'll be left with a car that has compromises, undesirable for resale and even then only worth a fraction of what you have in it.

The engine you have is not worth tuning at all as a N/A engine, a remap will do feck all other than make your wallet lighter.
To convert your engine to a turbo is possible, but expensive.
An engine conversion is also possible but isn't going to be much cheaper, I'm going to guess at £5k+, then you need to do suspension, brakes and so on.

The wiring will be the biggest headache.

In both cases you'll make compromises - reliability, insurance cost, comfort, resale value and so on.

If you try and do this cheaply it will come back to bite you.

Your cheapest route to a 200hp Polo is to sell what you have, go and buy the same age GTI model that has 180hp stock and remap it. That'll be nigh on 200hp and you'll (pretty much) have factory reliability. Insurance would probably be lower than modifying your car. By the time you sell your car I'd suggest changing will only cost you about half of what all the mods to your existing car will cost

Better still, go for a post 2015 GTI that has 192hp stock.

If you aren't too bothered about having a polo, Fiestas and Corsas both have models that are around 200hp.

If you want to learn more about cars and engines, go find a wreck of an old mini (or similar) and rebuild it.

Hmm, have you even googled the power of each of those engines?

So, you think your standard brakes are OK for 1.8T mapped & decatted but not for a 3.2?

You REALLY need to go back to school small boy!

Pops and bangs?! Behave. People will laugh at you and think you're ten years old.

You WILL waste thousands trying to modify it into something faster. It'll off the road for more time than it's on it. That's before you even being to try and insure it, or the damage you do to its future residual value.

Enjoy it as it is and save your time/effort/cash for the next car. You'll be glad you did in a year or twos time.

You have no idea how jealous I am!

Why, oh why didn't I think of doing that?
