My Golf VR6 MK III Auto Has an intermittent problem with 'slow take-up' from standstill.

Does anyone know of a proven recommended garage in the London Area that actually knows about VW Autoboxes?

As opposed to the reply from my local VW garage ' We don't repair , just replace !' At massive expense of course.....

That is a sympton of low ATF; Definatley check your fluid level, usually checked with engine running in park - check the manual.

Delayed engagement is often associated with a low oil level.

It can also be caused by drawing in heavily aerated fluid caused by overfilling.

Get the fluid changed, use the recommended fluid, and have the transmission computer reset. That is most likely what will fix it.

An experienced dealer should be more than capable of doing the work.

Thanks for the info.
Mind you, I've had the full Annual service in October, (plus new gearbox gaskets just a year ago )and it was my main VW dealer who didn't have a clue what it could be .....
