thanks mate, why did you not keep the normal range rover box? Also were do people get the adaptors from? or do they have them fabricated?

Here's a reply ive just sent to someone else who emailed me on the similar subject:

"I used the TH350 because it was considered to be capable of taking the power of the chevy, and the parts and upgrades (even in the uk) are relatively cheap.

I don’t know what the power rating of the 727 is, but either way you are likely to need to get it “built” , i.e. better bands, clutches and increased line pressures otherwise it will get eaten up in short order. Suggest you do a bit of googling on the box to find out the weak points and it’s HP rating.

Even after spending £1300 on upgrades, my current th700r4 wont take over ~400ft/lb without the input shaft breaking (so everyone tells me), now I could get a hardened input shaft – but everyone says the 700r4 is too light duty for the proper amount of power I intending to put through it. So my next gearbox may well be a 4l80e which is an electronic 4 speed version of the venerable old th400 which is bullet proof. These can be built to take 800-1000+bhp. The main problem is that they are *massive* and I may have some problems getting it in. You may want to consider going straight down that route with the sort of power you are considering.
"

There are links on my site to places you may be able to get the adapter made, but essentially you need to fab it yourself.
There was an adapter on ebay a couple of weeks ago ironically.
