weeeeeeeeeeel,
i had a think, and people have rallied ignisesis (ignesii ?) so im sure its doable, but, you may well need very deep pockets if youre going that far!
if though youve got a few hundred quid burning a hole in your pocket, the first thing to do is throw the cat away and get a decat pipe and possibly cat back system to go with it.
married up with a k&n in the engine bay, this will improve breathing no end and make your ignis start to sound like a 'proper' car.
that will set you back a good £400 though for a half decent exhaust and filter, but if you do get a decent pair, they will be excellent building blocks for if you wanna go further.
before you get too carried away though, bear in mind that your car will still have to pass its MOT once a year so the cat will have to go back on for that (or unless you know a bent tester) and also that other mods will similarly have to be a little 'restrained' so twin carbs etc are an absolute no no.
after your xhaust and filter, a proper programmable chip would probably be next (NOT the £29.99 crap on ebay).
past THAT hot cams (and another visit to the tuners for a chip tweak)
in all of this there should also be a wizards of nos system for push button fun, but im unsure as to how your engine would react to this - dont know what size jets are safe for your engine etc.
its late and im tired. hope theres some food for thought in there though.

Also you would not fit carbs and a "computer chip" (better known as an ECU).

The ECU controls the fuel injection as well as a few other bits, so you either have one or the other. Carbs or fuel injection.

He might mean a mappable ECU e.g.UniChip or Motec
Ignis are meant to be pretty good fun and although I agree about bying a better car it is nice to have some fun playing about with them.
