Hi Guys, I am looking to upgrade from my Skoda Octavia combi to the A4 combi Quattro. Can anybody tell me when the 2.5 V6 TDi went from 150 to 180 bhp? Obviously I would prefer the 180 version My Skoda only has the 90 bhp 1.9 although the 4-motion is good in the snow wh have currently.

why not go for the front wheel drive smaller engined one and get it re-mapped.You can get over 200 bhp easily from it and huge torque. The only thing it will do is eat front tyres. But I blame the wife for that,as she drives ours the most.Use the power rather than loose it through four wheels and let traction control work for its money.

Hi Justin,

Thanks for the idea, unfortunately I need the 4wd for access from my house to the road in winter. My wife's Pug 206 stays in the garage for most of Jan/Feb because of the weather. I prefer 'lazy' low-down power so the 2.5 is more suited than the 1.9.

I have a 4 year old 180bhp 2.5TDI Avant Quattro. At the time the Quattro was 180bhp and the 2 wheel drive version was 150bhp. Not sure if this helps!?

Thanks Roy, it appears that the change was around April/May 2001. I have seen UK ads for cars with 163bhp as well!

I am based in Hungary and we have a problem here in that lots of Audis have been imported from Germany, Italy and Switzerland at ages from a few months to 3 years old. Unfortunately the papers do not state the car was second-hand when registered in Hungary so many unscruplous or unknowing people advertise a '2002' Audi A4 Q V6 TDi with 150bhp. The car is presumably an early 2001 or older and has been imported.... I am in the market for a 2002 car so I can now ignore any which are not 180 bhp.
