Hi guys, anyone have any ideas whats up with my car. I have a porsche 944S on a E plate, and the idle speed adjuster is as low as it gets, and it still ticks over at 1400 RPM, i ahve changed the inlet manifold gasket and the seals on the injectors, and made sure all the air pipes were attached and it still ticks over at high revs, any ideas what i could do next.

Does it have a thermostatic idle valve? Does it work?

long time since I worked on a porsche, but......

Is the crank case breather fed back to the inlet manifold? Try disconnecting that. It`s obviously getting fuel (or something combustible) from somewhere - just a question of working your way through the possibilities.

Some on has told me the idle speed could be controlled for a sensor and when the water temp rises the idle speed reduces, if this could be a possiblity where would the sensor be located on a 1987 Porsche 944S 16V. Many thanks

Temp sensors a possibility

They are on the coolant hose on the stat housing I think. Worth cahnging them anyway as only £4 each, they will effect the ECU outputs if out.

May I also suggest the stat controlled idle bypass valve, very common fault for that Bosch part to fail.
