if you want over 1000bhp and you can fit a big block in there, then have a look at Whipple supercharger's web site. some very nice links to companies running 2(!!!!!!) twin screw superchargers on one engine. and then run on pump fuel. think the best i saw was running about 1500bhp.
also have a look on super chevy's website. they built a big block with a F2 ProCharger on there and on normal fuel it made just under 1500bhp!
thanks Chris.

Speaking of twin supercharging, does anybody know what happened to that Porsche 914 with the twin supercharged Chevy V8 in?
I used to have a link to the guys web-site but I think I deleted it because he stopped updating it for some reason.
I'd like to know what happened to it as it really was an incredible piece of work.

Twin supercharging seems rather pointless when one can do the job, and would probably be easier packaged.
Anything here of any interest re-porsche ??

why is it pointless? whipple have proven it can be done and that it works well. twins also let you run the the blower at half the speed (coz the twin system has twice the volume) and thus puts less heat into the inlet charge resulting in more power. and have you tried to find a single blower that will pass 6.6ltr of airt per rev? i think you would be hard pushed to find one. and that thing would be huge! also you would need a belt about 100mm across to transmit all the torque (or atleast twice the width that you could run on a twin setup).
but then if you turbo you dont have these isusse.
thanks Chris.

Drop it in an Ultima and break everything there is to break and then shut up about those crazy records . . .
Who needs a lump like that . . . I' ll have meself a nice 2cv . . .
true, true. would be nice to see a BB in an Ultima, but they dont fit! and at the end of the day you can get more then enough power out of a SBC to make the Ultima dangerous.
also you still got to put all thaa power down. this is a lot easier with 13inch wide drag slicks, but a little harder on road tiers when its raining!
put the bounderies still need to be pushed!

id say GMAN's 640 bhp one at the mo, thats the one with the records. there is that 1000bhp 4WD sport that is about to be completed. it wouldn't be hard to make a more powerful one though. just take american speeds 383cid supercharged engine, remove the tiny supercharger from it and put a Procharger D1-sc (or bigger) on there. these can produce upto about 900bhp i think (the F1's can go to well over 1000bhp), so on the 383 with around 14-15psi you should see about 750-800bhp (at similar presure a 350 will make 700) and for a lot less money than a 700bhp AS unit!
but thats just my thoughts. you could use a Whipple S/C, but i think only the 2.3 ltr unit will fit, and that has a limit of about 700bhp. the 3.3 ltr (900bhp) is much bigger. you could always use 2, and mount them low, but again that would be a VERY hard to do in the small engine compartment.
there where a few talking of turbos but there are a lot of problems with them, mainly plumbing and the heat they make. there was a racer built by Brammo that ran a VERY special LS6 with twin turbos. that made 1300bhp one the dyno at about 10psi!!!!! had to detune it for the Ultima though. would be very nice as it had straight through exhausts. i remember reading on the site that they had trouble with grip until they got to about 100 and the aro could take effect! very nice car. i think they build customer units (some using the 7ltr C5R block) but dont know if they have exhausts and the manditory (over here) cats.
thanks Chris.
