Range rover 4,6L
Discussion
It is deffo a 4.6L rover cross bolted. I want a second hand one. If i can get a bottom end for the right price then i will buy it and sell all the internals that i dont need but i have had a look at the obvious places but at the moment dont seem to be having much luck. I would be greatful for any help in finding one or a point in the right direction.
What i am wanting to do is go to a 5 litre and have being told to get a 4.6L and get the 4.6 crank off grinded... It would be cheaper than getting a 4 litre block (which i could use but would need to buy a a bigger crank seperate and have been told that older cranks are stronger than a new one. It has to be from a 1994 year or newer.

I'm not sure if the 4.6 crank will make the 90 mm stroke you will need. From memory people offset grind to 90mm using a raw unmachined 4.6 crank casting and only some of those have enough material on the crank pins. You could instead go 86.5mm stroke and use trw pistons from the 2.3 ford but you would need 96mm liners. I've done this stuff several times and got to 5.4 with 98mm crank and 94mm liners. So I could have gone bigger capacity had I used 96 mm liners. It can be a real pain getting a package to work and will be easier for you if you get custom pistons. V8D have some interesting ideas in the pipeline on the big capacity stuff. It may be worth talking with Rob. You will spend a lot more then you expect if you go diy.
