I would like advice on converting my MK 1 cortina engine in my Ginetta to a 5 speed Type 9 V6 ford box keeping the hydraulic clutch.
Any techical advice would be useful.

I would have thought the 2.0 small bellhousing version would bolt straight on.
The V6's ( and diesels ) have a larger bellhousing due to a larger flywheel/clutch.

I would also guess that any 2.0 dohc MT75 gearbox would probably bolt straight on too, as most of the smaller ford engines use the same bellhousing bolt pattern/spacing.

The hydraulic clutch may be more tricky to get going, as I dont think any 5 speed Fords used one. They were all cable.

Be aware that the propshaft does not slide in and out of a MT75 gear box as it does on the Type9, and earlier 4 speed boxes. This is fine if you have an IRS setup, but will not allow for the movement of a live axle.

Thats the MT75 out then as I've a live axle!
I have posted the questions under the Kit car forum too as builders tend to have a lot of suggestions too.
I've got the good gears but the long input shaft and no bell housing yet. The box externally is the same as the Seirra which is really a TYPE N not 9 which leads to confusion.(V6 is Type 9) I might try and get an N box and swap the input shafts but taking the shaft out dosent look easy althhough the front bearing is loose on mine.

The propshaft used on the MT75 cars actually has a splined joint on it just before the centre bearing which would allow for movement.

Not sure why they had this in the first place.
