Anybody any views as to a power figure that the LT77 rover box will take. I guess that its more a question of torque than overall power.

Can the rover box be modded at all to take more power or are you best of with the BW T5 box?

Cheers

When you do a search on the TVR forums for LT77 you will find answers. And addresses to turn to, where you can have a good overhaul with or without modifications. In general it can be considered as an ok box, I think.

No personal experience, but there not that great. As usual it depends on what you want it to do, if your doing a mild upgrade - then run 'till it nukes itself then upgrade to something better, R380 is supposed to be a replacement.
Unless you have specific reasons (Classic car) I wouldn't spend money upgrading an LT77 box.

It depends on weight and use of the car also, but generally I wouldnt rate them for use with anything over 300bhp on road tyres, unless its very light.

Many people also dont rate the T5 very highly either, although they would say its better than the LT77.

I didnt take the risk, and went for a Toyota Supra 88-94 R-154 5speed. Very good value if you can find one, and very very strong. It will easily handle 400lbft all day long, and into next year.

Pity Bellhousings arent that cheap, but then again, neither are T5/RV8 ones.

With Bernie's bearing upgrade they're pretty solid up to about 300 lb-ft, but they seem to survive a lot more than that if you're willing to give them regular rebuilds.
