Peugeot 206GTi intermittent problem...
Discussion
My other half has a pug 206Gti which has recently developed an intermittent problem. Sometimes on cold start the engine will run very lumpy (as if it was on three cylinders). Sometimes this just clears after a few minutes but other times the engine will continue to run rough and the engine management light will come on. Switching the engine off for a few seconds and restarting will sometimes solve the problem until the next cold start.
The ECU diagnostic results are useless 'intermittent and undetermined fault on cylinder 1'
I have replaced the plugs but its made no difference. I am now looking towards the coil pack but don't want to replace it unless im sure its going to solve the problem.
Has anyone experienced similar? Is it likely to be the coil pack? If it is the coil pack, is it likely to have damaged the ECU?
Any advice appreciated please.
Cheers
Steve

Arse! Changed the coil pack and the problem is still there... even more strange is that it only happens on the first start of the day & then only on cold days. Someone else has suggested head gasket but none of the other signs are there so I hope not.
As for possible injector problem - is this likely given that it feels fine at all other times? BTW, there is no leads, it has a coil pack.
Any more ideas?

Cheers guys - Ive put a new set of plugs in and that hasn't helped... I know that the problem is occuring in cylinder #1 but I only know that because peugeot diagnosed it with their fault code reader... I am loathed to take it back again because they charge £60 just to read the fault codes FFS!!!
Compression test sounds like a good idea... I'll see what that shows up...
Cheers
