Camshafts will give you more power up top and move your power band up the revrange a bit depending on spec, this will also give you more lag though and a loss of low down power.
The same can be said of a bigger turbo, you will probably find (not sure on your spec) that even with a boost upgrade your turbo is unlikely to have enough puff in it in the higher revranges and will tail off sharply once this point is reached, its not just down to how much boost a turbo will produce but how much flow it will give aswell.

Typically and how I understand it , breathing is one of the main secrets to top end power, hence the term 'run out of puff'.
Obviuosly its not as simple as that, as you've already said, the choice of cam being probaly the biggest single factor, although if it can't get enough air in it won't matter what you fit. AIMHO.

If you want higher top end speed then have you considered changing diff ratios? No idea if that's at all possible on your car but if it is and you've already increased the mid-range torque nicely a numerically lower diff (I can never remember if that's a higher or lower diff) will increase the top speed although at the possible expense of some accelleration. As with all tuning there's always a compromise to be made!

Cheers,
Rob

good point Rob. this method also reduces the stress on the engine that you get with increasing the rpm. along with the diff, you could look for a longer box. or mabey one with an aditional ratio.

If it's only for Vmax events then what about nitrous oxide?

Makes no difference at all to normal running because you don't use it. But when running a Vmax, just press the button and instant power boost.

Unless you fancy completely uninstalling it between Vmax's you'll find it a real pain insurance wise - insurers really hate it. But if you can find one to cover you as long as the bottle is disconnected on the road, then It'd be a perfect solution. NOs is even better on turbos that NA due to the cooling effect...

What speed would the car be pulling in top gear at maximum rpm? And what rpm is it showing at 145mph? I.e, how much of the rev range have you got left before the limiter in top gear?
