I have recently gone halves on a Sebring MX kit car fitted with a 3500cc Rover V8 from an '81 SD1 engine. The engine has been fitted with a stage 1 head and fast road cam. My question is I would like to change the oil, but am unsure of the quantity required, also can anyone on which grade would be most suitable. I was thinking along the lines of a 10-40W Semi-Syn. I know that the fluid capacities are in the Haynes Manual, but I am waiting for my order one to arrive. Any help would be greatfully recieved.

In terms of how much to buy it will be more than 4 liters and less than 8. For checking the actual level I would refer to the dipstick rather than filling with a measured amount, because it is going to depend on the sump, oil filter, cooler etc.

Haynes for Range Rover says 9 pints sump 1 pint filter or 5.66 litre total.
Multi grade 20W/50.
