well i have to admit i am very very new to this modifying game.
however, i have taken a fancy to customising the interior of my mk5 fiesta and now i am looking for a way to boost performace.
is there a way to do this without any of the following having a significant effect?:

1) raised insurance
2) engine damage
3) substantially higher fuel consumption

other than that, hello to you all )

Your insurance is likely to go up by a huge amount

The engine damage and excessive fuel consumption are unlikely to happen if mapped properly.

For a small engine non-turbo car, I'd not waste the money on a re-map, you'd only get a handful of extra horses, unless you are going the whole hog and putting in big-cams, modded cylinder head, throttle bodies etc.

Sell it and get a fiesta 1.4 or a zetec 1.6, job done!

Or indeed, a better car altogether than a fiesta. Can easily be done without a rise in insurance, if you find the right models.

1) raised insurance

Probably a 10-15% rise, but some companies hate remaps with a vengence, others ignore them

2) engine damage

Not with decent reputable software supplier

3) substantially higher fuel consumption

You get a faster car, use the loud pedal to greater rpm... what do you think???

Go search out a bluefin by superchips

it's a NON detectable remap of the module, simply plug into the 16pin dlc and download the tweaked map, then if you need to remove it again, it's a reverse process.

and as a bonus, if you have a fault. the handset can be used as a scanning tool

retail is expensive though and they don't list a power curve, so mail them for info
