hi,
ive been thinking off up rating my 350i engine to a 450,
and the cheaps way off doing this that i cans see is to get a 450 short engine and swooping all the parts from my 350i engine on to it, so i under stand that all the parts are in to changable,

can anyone tell me if this is possable

I don't think it would be so straightforward. I don't know specifically in this case, but when swapping heads between different capacity versions of an engine you need to watch that the combustion chamber size is the same. You are in danger of ending up with an unusably high compression ratio.

Also, the fuelling won't be right and you'll need to recalibrate it.

Currently sort of doing this at present from a 400se to a 4.5 BV.

Yes most ancillaries will fit, but it is easier to swap the front timing cover over so you can then use existing brackets etc for alternator power steering

Not too sure about the heads as mine are different due to valve size being much larger.

You would probably need a different ecu to suit the new engine - I managed to buy a complete injection system from a 4.5 engine with ecu, injectors, afm etc so will hopefully be quite close to compatability.

Also 350 brakes and suspension would need uprating to cope with the power

But you now have all winter to complete the task and have a roaring BBW to drive in the spring
