Hi, does anyone know on a firm within 20 mile of Bishops Stortford, Herts. that can tune twin webers? just changed the spark plugs on my engine and they are a bit black, so it must be running rich. it also spits back through the carbs. I am willing to travel further than 20 miles but dont want to hang around all day.
cheers.

if they are spitting back,is that as soon as you start it from cold? If its when its hot,it's usually because they are running week.Strange as you say the plugs are black.Has it ever been set up right on a rolling road?Webers don't go out of tune with mixtures as they are fixed jets.Is it running rough at tickover? Just to see what symptoms you have and the state of tune might be able to help you.

Try Peter Baldwin at Wilshers Garage, Wimpole (between Cambridge and Royston). Very good and knows his stuff.

I will try cambridge first as its closer. carbs dont have a choke (well they do but no cable attached)it always starts what ever the weather, hot or cold. It usualy spits back when cold on start up, rarly when hot athough it does sometimes while driving down the road. carbs were set up on a rolling road 2 years ago. never really been happy with it, but it does sound/run nice at 3500rpm. There is no doubt the plugs are black, only one has the tinyest trace of grey colour.

Second that. If it's got carbs, Pete's your man!
