Have any of you out there shoehorned this engine into a TVRS3 to replace the Cologne V6---if so two simple questions:
1)is it straightforward--or does it require some drastic relocating of components?
2)more important--how expensive is it? Do I have to buy a complete car to get the engine or are they still available? I know nothing about this engine.
If very pricey it obviously makes much more sense to go for a V8S (helps with the insurance too)

Theres a chap in our club who's done this and made a very neat job of it, as far as I understand it the engine doesn't move from original position, they did it by buying an 2nd hand engine and then running the engine with an emerald ecu, exhausts had to be custom made but he said it was reasonably straightfoward.

Engines come from ebay on a regular basis. Expect to pay up to £400 and always try to get the loom. Motor fits in the same position as standard and I think the exhaust headers may be the tricky part of the install. I do a plenum for this engine if you don't like the stock item (it's pretty ugly inside). Oh, earlier BOA engines are more popular for transplants then BOB frogeye engines.

If you're doing this as the easiest/most cost effective way to get a better car then the V8S/Chimaera/Griffith route is a no-brainer. IMO the only sensible reason to do this sort of engine swap (and I accept that its a perfectly good reason ) is because you want to.

Tx V8S what you say makes sense (even to a foreigner). What I want is a general upgrade and it obviously is better to go for a V8S with upgraded brakes etc than mess around with an S3. The insurance will also be cheaper.
