Kent engine with 1800 diesel crank
Discussion
Has anybody on here got experience, or know of anyone who has, of converting the 1800 diesel crank for use in the Ford Kent engine?
The crank drops straight in with a regrind but the pulley end is different and needs modifying by adding a piece in. This crank has double webs so should rev higher than standard cranks.
I've got an 85mm block and the crank gives me about 1860cc, plan is to either turbo or supercharge to about 180-200bhp.
Cheers,
Paul

The crank is straight out of the Ford 1800 diesel, it was based on the 1600 diesel engine which was in turn designed from the original Kent engine!! This is why it more or less drops stright in, the journals are metric sizes but grind back to original imperial Kent dimensions on a 1st grind IIRC, it's just the pulley end that is different. There are 8 flywheel bolts instead of 6 but a later flywheel can be used from cvh escorts etc I believe.
By the way this engine is going in a Mk1 Fiesta!! with a RS Turbo 'box
I'm running IDF40's at the mo and will make a plenum to fit once I get the new bottom end and turbo/supercharger in.
