Advice needed, i have 89 3.5 efi v8 with uprated exhaust and filter, and want to fit a low down punchy cam, (forgot to say, its my range rover off roader) will i be able to just fit the cam or will i have to mess with ecu??

You would like the 218 hybrid from v8D. Loads of torque and some more top end to.

The ECU is not sophisticated enough to be changed/modified and should work OK as is.

The cam change will also require new lifters. You may also want to look at changing the valve springs. There are cheap performance gains to be had by simply replacing old weak springs. In your case you may want to look at up-rated springs for even more gain. If you don’t want to remove the heads the springs can be changed in situ.

They do a cam kit called the LE1, made mainly for the Range Rover application. It looks expensive, but look at what you get in the kit and it seems very good value for money. Heard good things about them too, I'll be putting one in mine when I've got the money.
