I'm not a big fan of the way Porsche engines LOOK.
Just look at the magnesium cam covered 928 S4 V8 with its intake manifold that looks like a tumeric growth.

I don't think the 911 boxer engne looks much nicer.

One of my favourite lookers is the late 1940s/50 and 60s Jaguar XK straight six - with the distinctive twin cam boxes all in chrome and colour coded alloy head bits depending on variant. The triple carbs can look very fetching too!

It's a 1980 small block chevy 400.
Bored to 407 (6.7L)
Works nice in my Ultima GTR.

Is that the 208? Due to Italian law cars under 2 litres had lower tax. Lambo Jalpa 2.0 is also a stunner. Love those small hi revving little devils.

Under the bootlid ...of a 208 GT4. The GT4 was the first Ferrari road car to be fitted with a mid mounted V8, whose line includes the 288 GTO, F40 and 360CS.

3929 cc Watercooled flat V12, mid-mounted. (This incredible engine is placed only a couple of inches from the headrests! So you can actually hear where all that gasoline is going.)
Bore/stroke : 82 x 62 mm
Compression : 10.4 : 1 (10.7 : 1 (sv))
Power : 350-375hp at 8000 rpm
Fuel system : Four triple Weber carburettors
Wheelbase : 2504 mm
Weight : 1040 kg
Height : 1055 mm
V-max : 260-285 km/h ( Miura P400sv being the fastest)
Miura production numbers : 765 total.
-P400 ('66-'68) : 475 produced
-P400s ('68-'71) : 140 produced

One of my favourite lumps:
"The Tadek Marek engine used by Aston Martin between 1969 and 2000."

Why is it so hard to find something about the man behind the Aston V8s?

And the Vantage 380 hp tuning.

"The heart of the series 3 V8 Vantage - the V580X (sometimes called X-pack) specification engine. Changes to the previous version include four 50mm Weber carburettors, Cosworth pistons, larger inlet ports and higher lift camshafts. With the air pumps needed to meet EEC emission regulations, peak power is in the range of 410 to 420 bhp. With an optional 'big bore' conversion from Works Service, this could reach 430 bhp

"Between March 1977 and December 1989, the Vantage was the only British member of the Supercar club. It may have weighed as much as a house (about 1800 kg actually) but could see off the skimpy Ferrari 512BB and Testarossa plus the Lamborghini Countach with aplomb and carry an extra two passengers."

"The outstanding V8 Vantage Volante was photographed (engine above) during to preparation for the 1999 Parade des Pilotes at Le Mans. The crackle finish black cylinder heads indicate a Factory original 6.3 litre engine conversion. In this case, the engine is tuned to provide 470bhp with 479lb/ft torque at 2,750 rpm (i.e. set up for maximum acceleration)."

Engine could be bored up to a max 7.3 litres . . .
