I've heard of "Long" and "Short" Rover V8s - what's the difference?
John.
A long motor includes more than a short motor. The short is generally just the bottom end, including the pistons, crank, block etc. but excluding the heads. The long motor includes the heads etc. perhaps it short be short and tall, not short and long!
So essentially they're the same engine, just a "long" one is complete and a "short" one isn't?
From what I understand a Long motor is a complete engine minus ancillaries such as fuel injection, alternator etc. The short motor is only the block, minus head. If you want the whole package then a turnkey motor is required.
