should we organise a Sat convoy from the North East down to PF - collecting others on the way?

Im in North Yorks so is there anyone further North going thats heading down the A1?

I think the route will be A1 / M1 etc

If there is someone further north on that route drop a line as we can then judge times

I'm not being funny (I mean that!) I'm in the north east and would like to meet up en route, but would it be out of the question to cover some B roads? Plus I wouldn't want to suddenly forget you were BiB, drop to third & away....may not get very far!

fair play! well I suppose I'm over excited...the B roads we have up here are so much better (awaitsflaming) than down there Maybe we could detour onto the old A1 (just by knaresborough IIRC) for about 4 miles - it runs alongside the A1/M and carries non motorway traffic - good surface, good visibility, not much traffic and some very nice bends...

of course all those motorway could run alongside on the actual A1/M - best of both!

Hi Richard, Dexy and I are travelling up on Saturday morning. We'd love to hook up with your North Yorks lot. We're north-east of you so anywhere early on route would work for us. By the way, where's your PF banner? it looks like you haven't got tickets yet.

I will be doing the same except joining at the A68 junction - the A68 goes right past my house up corbridge way....some folks have all the luck...:sigh: happy to meet up

Hi Minimax,
We just checked the map, might it be possible to meet you at the hotel car park / layby that's just off the roundabout at Scotch Corner? If so, will you be in your gorgeous green mini?

Shall we work out what time we want to be there then work backwards?

Don't want to lose too much time getting there. I, for one, would like to be parked somewhere near my tent and I'm guessing it's first come first served.

Lets plan three strategic pick-up points but bearing in mind there are some further north than us.

I'd suggest places like
Scotch Corner?
Wetherby?
Garforth?
By that time we'll be so big that others will know we're the PH convoy (oops sorry not allowed to say convoy)

Let's aim at 15:00 and see if that's plausible. Some may need to eat en-route too. Guess there's lots of planning needed here. Is 'Bob the Planner' coming?

I was being kind to the far north folk. I'm an early bird(bloke) so earlier won't bother me. If I were home now I'd use AutoRoute to see how times pan out. It's been a few years since I last visited Stratford so I'm a bit rusty regarding journey times.
