Thinking of moving it forward for a better chance of some sun this year, possibly early/mid August.
Will get a tide table and find a good day when the tide is nice and low so if anyones interested perhaps a game of cricket/footie on the huge sand bar that pokes out in to the Solent.
Will do the Pitch and Putt Tournament again if Ted agrees to donate a prize this year too - only 2 rules this time:-
1. Jarcy has a 15 handicap (his son (what 8 now?) will carry 10)
2. Bob The Planner has to go around on his own, after everyone else to avoid any potential fatalities.

Have considered talking to the local campsite if anyone wants to make a weekend of it, they are used to loads of cars as they used to host one of Europes largest customer car shows until the local bunny loving, tree hugging, lentil munching council refused planning permission.

Also how about a merge with a Surrey Run, Hants TVRCC, Dorset TVRCC - Don/Bob are you happy to lead convoys?

As I said - early thoughts lets have yours.

Mark.

I would definitely be happy to sort out a convoy drive from our part of the world. I've got an idea for a rather nice route as well...

As always I'll be happy to create a promotional web-page, produce maps and schedules and generally liase with your good self.

Last year the pitch'n'putt worked well as did the picnic. Is there anything else we could add to the day?

It was also good fun to have a "staging area" where everyone met up prior to the short convoy drive. We could probably do with a bigger pub car-park than last time? And certainly I need to get the timing right so people don't have to wait half an hour to get a drink! It'd be nice to have a slightly longer drive all together too - say about twenty minutes rather than ten...

I'd be happy to do some reconnaisance work for the "staging area" someplace north of Hayling Island...preferably out in the country.

I'll also lend a hand with the promotional effort. If we set the date far enough in advance it gives everyone the chance to think about it and include it in their diaries.

It defo needs to be AFTER PistonFest (which will get everyone all keen about meets...) I think early August sounds very good...

Sounds great - count me in.

We managed an 80 mile trip down to Hayling Island last weekend on Surrey Run 4 which was fabulous (took just under 2 hours). Just for good measure, most of us then did the larger part of the Pie on the Beach I route in the reverse direction going on to the meeting in Basingstoke.

My vote goes for a good long drive, regardless of how convoluted the route is.

Hopefully we will get a few more cars from Bristol as last years event was great....
For those Bristolians who are interested, check out the report at www.tvrcc-bristol.co.uk/reports/02/0209PieOnTheBeach/FrameSet.htm

That route is a nice one...last year whatever and I chased one another back from POTB via a more convoluted country run that was very enjoyable...perhaps we should do that route on the way there this time? Extends the travel time from 1hr ten to more like 1hr 45 but does include lots of slowing down for pretty villages prior to making the jump to lightspeed at the NSL.

Don,
You could do worse than taking in the A272 for a bit some excellent stretchs along there.
Head down towards Chichester, then along the old A27 through Emswoth.
Just a thought.

Aye, and a jolly nice run it was too. I'm all in favour of a long, convoluted route! I'll probably have a passenger seat available this year, too, but only able navigators need apply!

OI Mark ! It was only on one hole that I almost killed Ash. Perhaps I skip the pitch&putt and play cricket instead. Does Ash play wicket keeper ? I'm pretty handy with a bat

I'm happy to lead a trundle along, it was great fun last time and I think I might be able to find a bigger pie and some more fizzy stuff

Nacnud, Are you up for a meet in/near Shaftsbury for a mass assault on ZigZag, followed by Cranbourne, Fordingbridge, Romsey, Winchester, A272 to Petersfield, South Harting, Compton and on to Hayling. Perhaps we can amend the route to meet with other groups in an ever increasing convoy ?

Can you imagine the sight of the convoy stretched out around the edge of the open bowl at the top of Zig Zag Hill ? Woo Hoo !!!

Apart from us that didn't know where we were going and so resorted to the SatNav!

Does that mean you are up for a pre-ZZ joining of convoys ? The sort of layby at Cann Common would be suitable for upto 15 cars. Are you going up first to video the fun or do we nominate someone else !

OK Guys, here we go.
Sunday August 10th seems the best bet, same format as last year, meet at the Ship Inn (nice to get the landlord going again ) trundle off down to the beach for the now obligatory golf, with prizes, I already have agreement from Ted.
Earlier than last year so the weather should be a bit better, tide will be right out at 16:13 so plenty of time to muck about on the not insubstantial sand bank.
Also the fun-fair should have a new high drop ride installed by then.
Sound like a plan?

I'll get Ted to drop something in the calendar.

Bob and Don have already agreed (dates being OK) to bring their respective gangs, all we need is someone to bring on down the Surrey gang - Jeremy, Steve?

JeremyC and I probably cover most of the same ground I'd have thought...

But right. August 10th it is. Standby for routes/times. Basingstoke PHers it will be the usual meeting point (directions to it will be on the web shortly)..but I'm going to try to find some special routes that will give us some fun on the way down...

Last year I got the arrival time at the Ship wrong and we couldn't get a drink! So I'll definitely be negotiating with Mark about that so we get there at the right time...

Woohoo! It'll be a great day out everyone - come on and make it a success!
