sorry i haven't been keeping up with pistonfest as much as i should have been

i plan to come, but probably only on the saturday as i'll probably end up at donington on the sunday... checked tickets at the pistonheads shop (www.pistonheads.com/shop/asp/product.asp?product=125) and there doesn't appear to be a saturday only ticket!!!

would this be covered by the 'Car Pass' or would i need to buy a Sunday ticket or Weekend ticket - bearing in mind i wont be there on the sunday???

also, i know the main day will be sunday but is there still strip racing, stalls and the like on the saturday!?!

cheers for your help!

We're not really planning a great deal for Saturday, only the camping/piss up on Saturday night. Sunday is the main event car wise.

donington is the fia gt/etcc race... went to it last year and it was quite cool!!!

what time does pistonfest stop on the sunday, perhaps its possible to do both!?!

trying to find a map of the raceway on multimap to see if its possible to do donington and pistonfest in a day...

bugger, multimap isn't being very helpfull (it doesn't recognise stratford-upon-avon as a valid place name, despite(!) it showing it on the map!!!) but i reckon it to be 100 miles+, so if i leave donington at 4, i won't get to stratford until at least 6pm i reckon...

would it be worth it?

Sunday racing will have to stop as the light levels start to drop, but finals should be done by then & we should be into prize-giving ceremonies etc.....typically about 6pm.

If you follow the M42 south, onto the M40, you may be able to do the Donington-Stratford shuffle in approx 1.5 hours.

To answer your earlier question, there will be a full compliment of racing on the Saturday, and all traders will be arriving from approx. 8AM.......plus the party of course (if ever you needed an excuse!)

I must say that unless you are totally 100% "up for it" with regards to the Saturday night piss-up, the Saturday (and hence the Weekend Pass) is looking less and less attractive to the extent that Cosmic and I are starting to wonder if we might just come down on the Sunday morning now (which means we could have saved ourselves £20 and got two Sunday tickets instead).

Edited to add that we will have our 8½ year-old son with us which does somewhat affect how "up for it" we are.

Don't dismiss it yet Jon. Almost half the poeple who have booked so far have elected for weekend passes. There will be plenty of people there and plenty to see. All we're saying is that the main thrust PH type things will be Saturday night and Sunday.

Agree with Sir Minimax on this one, motorsport meetings happen all around the year. I am sure it will be great, but pistonfest will only happen this once (this year hey ted?!). You know it makes sense.
Beer and cars, excellent!

Also, I am looking forward to seeing a 78 Cav doing donuts on the grass

Is a Smart acceptable or should we bring dads Cerb??

I think there will be enough Cerbs there to represent the marque, but I doubt there will be many Smarts (and it means I can drive it there and back then.)

Thats just the beginning! How much power does a 78 2.0 kick out then? About 100bhp? Thats enough to have fun I am sure
