Shere Hill Climb 2024
Discussion
I haven't seen it mentioned here as yet, but the Shere Hill Climb ( https://www.sherehillclimb.co.uk/) is on Sunday 1st September with cars going up the hill from 9am. The hill climb is at Staple Lane - near Guildford GU4 7RL.
We will be going up the hill in the 370z this year and will be taking a picnic (though probably not both at once...).
It is a great event with a big, eclectic turn out of cars, bikes and more. Good local food/drink and live music. The run up the hill is just for fun - not competitive or timed - and is a brilliant day out with an added dimension to a static car display. All proceeds go to local charities.
I am not associated with the hill climb beyond taking part and being an enthusiastic supporter if this all sounds a but gushing...

Fantastic day if a little hot and sticky. Some good fun runs up the hill. Forgot to set the camera running on all three runs so only managed to get a couple of passenger recorded shaky/sweary-cam videos...
Random one, but do you have any information on the Lotus 62-style car in the background? Saw an identical one on a trailer in Harrogate and was wondering if it was the same car.Om said:

This is what it looked like from the inside, there's a whole channel about it.https://youtu.be/eoTOcZmhfDI?si=uhizcuLidaNAk_9i

I was impressed with the Austin 7 special by the way the engine was angled so the prop shaft could run down the side of the cockpit to the off-set diff - proper engineering that! Not only hot and sticky but dusty on the Autograss course until we asked the Fire Brigade to damp the course down. Well done to them.
Maybe next year the organisers can make a water bowser available?

Yea - that took me a minute to work out when I looked in the engine bay. An ingenious way to minimise your CoG without drastically modding the drivers arse crack! We followed it back down the hill on the last run and it is hilariously low (and tiny) on the road.
