Most people that know me on PH are aware I've been involved in Retro-Rides Shows since 2008 (Somehow I ended up co-ordinating the track activities and also assist with show build up and tear down)

The next Retro Rides Show is the Weekender at Goodwood Motor Circuit and is getting close now only a week to go (much excitement and a fair bit of work going on behind the scenes.)

More info here - clicky

Welcome back to the ultimate retro car celebration – Retro Rides Weekender at the iconic Goodwood! Brace yourself for a spectacular automotive fiesta that brings together an eclectic mix of retro rides – from hot rods to hot hatches, drifters to daily, stance to supercars, and everything in between. Our commitment to embracing the diverse strokes of the retro car scene is at the heart of our Themed Displays, Club Showcase, and Retro Parking areas.

Have a look at a some videos from previous years at Goodwood it'll give you a good flavour for the event

Saturday is the main day if you want to watch "Track Activities"

We've got the CSCC (Special Saloons and Modsports) These phenomenal machines, with lightweight bodies over monstrous race car chassis, will be both in the paddock and tearing up the track. They will be on track during session turnarounds throughout the day as well as an 30 min open pit lane session to close Saturday.

More info on CSCC here

https://www.classicsportscarclub.co.uk/special-sal...

They will all be parked on the main straight for a lunch time grid walk. Sharing the CSCC paddock will be some Historic Rally Cars (spanning four decades from 1960's to 2000 many of them will be demonstrating on the early afternoon "special stage")

There are 4 Sessions on track (unfortunately all Saturday track spaces are pre-booked and sold out.....)

Early and Late Morning are 2 lap sprints around the Goodwood Circuit with 6 cars in each batch (36 cars in each session)

Early Afternoon is a Tarmac "Special Stage" event where those Rally Cars get to show off their performance with a pre-selected group of cars that represent the RR umbrella

This video shows of the format of the spacial stage nicely watch for the comment at the end where PH'r Gewy gives his verdict

Late Afternoon reverts to 2 Lap Sprints as per the morning with another 36 cars in groups of 6

There are three other themed Paddocks

"Deadline" For new builds or significant overhauls

"Pop Tarts" If you are a fan of "pop up headlights" this is a Paddock full of them

"Black Room" Following on from previous years where we've had "Red Room" and "White Room" it's a paddock full of darkness

Sunday a huge section of the track is used for show car parking but being Retro Rides we still have some track activity going on with an Autosolo course providing fun for both participants and spectators (we still have spaces available for that)

Now clearly this is well suited for small and nimble cars and some participants take it very seriously but being Retro Rides we have a much broader entry criteria (A bit like USPS motto "If it fits it ships" we take the view "if it can fit between the cones it's OK to run" And yes one year we had a Unimog do the course hehe

"Get down with the beat"

"Vive le difference"

If you got this far thanks for reading and hopefully if you watched some of the videos and liked what you saw you'll come along on one of the days

Tickets Here - Clicky

Day Tickets

Adult £20

Youth (5 - 16 yrs) £5

Children under 5 - Free

Edited because the first question I always get is "what's the ticket cost?" so I've put that in now

This now means there will be even less replies so if you've been before and liked it post up what you liked and why - if you've got a suggestion for how it could be better I'd love to hear it.

Hello Mr bd, if we come along in the old banger to go on display, for 8, can we leave lunch-ish?

Having to leave by lunch, so hoping to get that extra hour in!

(First time, but we like old cars…)

On Sat or Sunday?

Both to be honest is fine but please be careful and slow leaving if you've parked on the track on Sunday cos there are a lot of people wandering around the cars

Have done the Sunday a few times now.

The staff there are all awesome and really seem to be enjoying themselves.

The naffi are taking the piss on the price of a bacon sandwich but the rest of the food is a really good selection.

It's a bit disappointing using porta loos when there's a proper toilet block locked up 10 meters away.

You need bigger banners on your merch stand, we stood next to it at the taco van and had to ask someone where they bought their shirt from an hour later because we couldn't find it. I'd only had one beer, promisehehe

The cones on the auto salon need to be spaced further apart, it a load of people having a laugh in their old cars not a serious competition as far as I'm aware and it's too slow and annoying to watch and puts us off giving it a go smile

Love the vibe of the show, it's so laid back and everyone is having a good day. We hope that never changes thumbup

10/10 will be at the next one

To answer your points

We don’t have any control over the nafi or the horsebox coffee stand - use other vendors as keith has worked really hard to get those vendors into GW to get a better selection of food.

Autosolo - fine balance there - noise and speed need to be managed (quiet day and we have to strike a balance of making course fun and a challenge for mixed abilities and mixed cars - a CSCC Datsun with no power steering and a button for a steering wheel did it clean too.

It wasn’t so tight really - a drifty E36 did the whole course perfectly and never touched a single cone 3 times (blew 150 db on the noise meter so didn’t get to go again) see what I mean about balance?

I see nothing of the show but the track as my team manage all of it. Saturday is a better day for track action - the special stage you would have enjoyed - sunday the autosolo is fun but will hopefully be competitive next year if I have my way.

Love the show - love that people enjoy it too - it was started by two people who wanted to put on a show that they wanted to go too because cars in fields is just that.

PS - if we’d been able to use the toilet blocks we wouldn’t have dragged in porta loos frown
