Weeting Steam Rally 14-16 July 2023
Discussion
I've seen a few ph'ers lamenting the amount of voltage propelled vehicles at Goodwood etc, well I saw none yesterday at this event except in the car park.
Usually when an engine in steam passes I'll stand in wonder at the magnificence. There were so many here yesterday I got sensory overload. As they filled the main ring I estimated there were 60 in steam plus many others not parading but providing power for saw mills, threshing, amusements etc.
It made me think how far we have come as my paternal grandfather worked for an agricultural contractor using these machines in vengeance for ploughing & harvesting.
So next year step back in time & gaze in wonder at what mechanical marvels existed and are still kept in full working order by so many dedicated owners and enthusiasts.
Only a proportion had assembled when I took this picture, so it does not do justice to the great spectacle that I saw. I decided just to watch.
