The British Motor Show - 18th - 21st August
Discussion
Hi all, attending the British Motor Show next week. It has some cool brands and cars involved, thought I would share details for anyone interested.
Check out the latest cars, supercars, classics, modified, motorsport and live stunt displays. What's not to love? With driving experiences, stunt shows, kids rides and motorsport it's the best day out you'll have this year.
The home of The British Motor Show is Farnborough International Expo Centre, ETPS Road, Farnborough.

I went today but without kids. If you want to test drive anything you need to register your license (and you'll need your NI number) at the front desk to get checked out before they give you paperwork needed to then book at the relevant stands. I had a test drive in an Alpine A110 and Mustang Mach E, but you book that at the relevant stands. Do that early of of interest to make sure you get a slot. The test route is 5 miles with some ok roads but traffic means you should try and drive mid day if possible, after 3 ish traffic gets bad.
Sporting bears is great, you can get a ride on some interesting cars for a donation to their charity, and some interesting stuff there. I went out in an exige 410 and 997.2 CSR, and for those with kids a few 4 seaters as well.
Some cool stuff on the Cinch outdoor stand to sit in, like Mclaren, AMG GTR, Lexus LC500, Mustang etc.
I didn't really look at the live events but they sounded good. The mini electric land rover driving course for kids looked great.
Practical points, I think walking from the car park is quicker than the bus, take sun cream as a lot is outdoors, and water station near main entrance to fill bottles and save £££.

I went today. The schedule and event timings are well posted at the venue entrances, but not online, and there are lots of things to see and do. The TV car personality people I saw all seemed happy to chat with visitors after they had carried out their official show duties. What I would say is if you are going to the show expecting to see a large range of new cars on manufacturer stands with a view to choosing your next car you will be disappointed as, from what I could tell, the car stands were dealer stands rather than manufacturer stands and the new cars were mostly hybrid / electric. For example the VW stand had no pure ICE models. I agree with Jack that Sporting Bears was good, walking quicker than the bus and to take suncream (I got sunburnt!). Overall a fun day and we spent about 6 hours there and the time flew by.
I went up for the morning into lunch (hard with a toddler to do a full day).
What a good show it was, got there and the Caterhams were doing the burn outs, son loved this.
Then the central section with Mike Brewer on the mike.
The owners section had a good turn out with a lot of memories brought back, well impressed, with another demo area at the bottom again with plenty of burn outs and drift stuff.
In the trade sections a rather good spread of stuff on view, I had 20 minutes on the SONAX booth getting some input on polishing techniques etc from them with demo's. Sat and watched the SOS garage guys for 20 mins again eating a sandwich.
Of course EV's being pushed everywhere on the stands from manufactures all advertising PCP offers to be had alongside them lol.

Just got home ... what a toastie warm day ... Got there and parked at 10 .... 20 minutes and inside, Stayed until 16:30
At £24 for an adult ticket, I'd say it was great value but be prepared to be on your feet all day,
First time I've been to the British Motor Show since the early nineties,
What a change in ethos, ...
The nineties were more like the automotive equivalent to Curry/PC World with giant halls with all the manufacturers showing their wares where as now if was more like a giant interactive experience ............ Lots more supercars to see but not so many 'normal' vehicles
Through a few £ on the charity stall for a drive around the neighbourhood ... Cheers Dave if your on here ... Sorry for pointing out the girl to your right

Went myself yesterday with the family and we all enjoyed it. Better than last year and I imagine will continue to grow. Enjoyed the modded car area at the bottom end. Brought back memories of max power shows.
Cheap and great day out.
Caterham ride is good fun. Done it last year and repeated this year.
