Bicester scramble 16 /1/2022
Discussion
I am looking to go to this on the 16th? What are the traffic queues like for getting in? Its only 40 minutes away for me and I'd like to get an event in the diary as my Series is soon going to be on the road in the next week (I hope)
However, I am keen to not spent an hour in traffic in a 1983 Series Land Rover

The queues are not long...the queues for the bacon & egg breakfast baps will be longer. There'll be a good few Series/early Defenders. I'll be in my 87 Ninety so you won't be alone. However, I am keen to not spent an hour in traffic in a 1983 Series Land Rover
We're hoping the Scramble won't be cancelled and looks like Bicester Heritage have covid risk relatively well managed:
>>COVID COMPLIANCE:
This event has been designed to be COVID compliant, set outdoors within plenty of space, with a reduced visitor attendance number and socially distanced queuing systems in place.
Passes will be scanned through your car windows, please ensure that all attendees have their passes ready at the ticket check, either on their phone or printed on paper.
While face masks are no longer a mandatory requirement, we ask that you are aware of others so that all attendees can enjoy the event.<<

OK, this is good to hear. OH has OK'd this outing, but want water leak and Clutch to be sorted on my Series before I commit, but hoping garage will be done by then. Will keep an out for other Series and LRs. Always happy to engage in conversation with other Series owners We're hoping the Scramble won't be cancelled and looks like Bicester Heritage have covid risk relatively well managed:

Great turnout despite the bleak weather at the start of the day. Sunshine was welcome when it finally showed!
I’m a bit early Porsche biased in my pictures, but there is some others in here somewhere!
Porker content first:
And some others:
This Moggy may not be standard:
This was the absolute star of the show: New BRM V16
This little thing was also perfect:

Looks a great event, but there’s some funny business going on with the ticketing for this (and yes, I know this is no doubt par for the course in whatever field) which lives a bitter taste in the mouth.
Having missed out on the initial allocation (my fault, fair enough) I’ve been in the waiting list for cancellations for weeks without any joy. A few ‘personalities’ on other forums and social media were posting that they left it too late/forgot/whatever over the past week - and yet all seem have magically been granted access today.

Agreed. As a Bicester resident I used to go along to this all the time when it was a free event, then they started to charge albeit a nominal amount but now prices to get in seem to be rising and rising and the summer event is almost at Goodwood levels. I just feel it’s now become solely a money making exercise for Bicester heritage.
Great photos. I really enjoyed this. It was like a Goodwood Breakfast Club but with a lot less people. Left Brighton at 06:30, picked up a mate and got there before 09:00. Freezing and foggy to start with but the sun came out.
I followed a lovely 205 Rallye into the car park.
The NSX-R was very popular and looked fabulous in the sunshine.
There were a lot of Porsches, almost like a Porsche owners club event!
The BRM was mobbed, I couldn’t even get a photo of it.

Ahh glad someone started a thread of Pictures - I was there with the PH "Barge 1-5 large" massive
So I'll drop my pics in here and stick a link in the thread so maybe other PH attendees will share
Disclaimer - "I is happy snapper" my tastes aren't for all so no pro pics here - I would say that the scramble always has something for everyone I'm not a huge fan of static car shows either but this one I quite enjoy
Lets start with the 4x4 area (as founder member of the NMRC (Norfolk Mountain Rescue Club) I'm always searching for the idea vehicle for those all important rescues
Lovely Panda - super clean inside and out and very much a car rarely seen - would be ideal for the high peaks of Norfolk
Jean Hunt "Fire up the Quattro"
Great ICE install - ghetto blaster as apparently it's not acceptable anymore to call them *** boxes
You kinda forget that the XR4x4 was ever a thing - you hardly see a Sierra these days let alone one that was an "Oddball" even back in the day
Moving swiftly on
A well presented and tidy 1966 Unipower 1398cc's according to DVLA - I thought probably mini based but no real clue
Something with a little more Patina -
1966 Matra Sports DjetV - Renault based and if my google fu is on form a lot more expensive than I thought
Snuck a quick shot while someone was being interviewed in an Ecurie Ecosse LM-C
I knows this because I read this yesterday
Something a little older - the rear end with the holes (tow eyes) caught my eye but the size of the carbs set me on a path to see if I could find smaller at the show
Nsxt - I don't know why these appeal perhaps it's the lines or the fact Honda were quite brave to make them
Drivers eye view
Rolph Mode "Can you guess what it is yet"
If you ever get the opportunity to see these things race take it - you will come home with a very dirty face but they are awesome on loose surface track
"Non contact" sport
A truck caught my eye - modern colour and lowered on black steels
I told my mate Will the bed area had been heavily plated - he assumed a weldathon
Lamborghini Urraco 2.5 Litres of V8 goodness
The rear window louvers I love
DEV - I spy with my little eye something beginning with B
Still trying to work out what the vents on the roof were for
That's me for now will add more when I get chance if people want

Some good spots there -- I saw the Urraco but the model didn't come to kind.
I didn't realise that the BRM was there -- did they actually fire up the engine?
I have video of the BRM running They fired it up several times in the day and you could hear it pretty much everywhereI didn't realise that the BRM was there -- did they actually fire up the engine?

Thanks for the pics everyone. Looks a good do.
Early 911s had vents above the back window and Range Rover Classics had them at the bottom of the C-pillar.

Surely it's just cabin ventilation for letting all the cigarette smoke out of?Early 911s had vents above the back window and Range Rover Classics had them at the bottom of the C-pillar.
