Any ideas?

I’m hoping to get along to the first one in June and wandering how far off I’ll be with 700hp, last time (many moons ago) I was in an e39 M5 and managed 168 so I’ll be happy to at least beat that..

Depends on the car, BHP, Torque, gearing tyre sizes etc.

Standing mile or 1.5 mile etc.

Standing mile I managed 182mph last year in the wet (no traction below 80) but hit the limiter in 5th at 182. 6th is a 0.65 ratio so a bit too long. Car was about 730bhp. 5th gear 1.0 and a 3.55 rear diff with 275/40/19 rear tyres at 8K rpm

I'm going back this year in warmer dryer weather with roughly 815 bhp and 720lbft of torque a 3.15 rear diff and 305/35/19 tyres gearing at 8k rpm should allow a top speed of about 207mph.

E60 M5 fully delimited doe 207mph with 507bjp v10 N/a.

Though I doubt it does in the limited distance at Vmax

Thanks Craig, sounds like you’ll be on the money, how far off the braking point were you when you hit the limiter?

Gearing is ok for me i think 6th 0.83, 7th 0.73 with a final ratio of 3.06, 246mph at 7k rpm eek so probably wont get out of 6th.

820lbft, 0.23 drag which is reasonably low i think..

Looks like sports cats are out of stock though so i’ll be 30hp down frown

It must be possible to create a calculator that automatically works out these things from inputing the car stats.

F40 hit 201mph with 476bhp
E60 M5 can do 207mph with 507bhp

More about the limited length of brunters, anything with 500hp and decent drag will do 200 (if gearing alows) eventualy

This was at Elvington (York) so you have 1 mile to floor it and 0.9 mile to stop but the end of the runway does go off to the right so you can carry some speed round when slowing down. Had no issue slowing from 182. I hit the limiter just as i got to the speed trap at the mile marker. Was a wet day so traction off the line was impossible. just built up the speed until i could floor it.

You can hear it break traction in the vid below.

this will give you an idea of speed that can be done.

I think bruntingthorpe is about the same length but last time i was there, you rounded a corner before getting onto straight, so already doing 60 or 70ish.
