Short-term car insurance in USA
Discussion
As this forum includes 'Travel' in it's title, I hope this is a good place to ask. Can anyone suggest an insurance company that will cover me to drive my car on an American holiday?
I race a classic car, and have been invited to take part next year in an annual marque event in the US. I can ship it there by sea, and to make it an adventure, I'd like to collect my car from the port of entry and drive it to the venue, about 450 miles, and of course back again. No problem, the car is road legal and I've driven it to Le Mans twice. But getting it insured for US roads is a problem for a period of two to three weeks.
Few, if any, US insurers will cover non-US residents unless they hire a car, which would spoil the point. Has anyone on PistonHeads done this, or can suggest an insurer?
Thanks!
John

I came across this blog within the Porsche section of PH recently and intend reading it in full when I can sit down with it uninterrupted for a while. The link below is to a page of information you may find of interest.
