It's the 10th Anniversary this year, £637,000 raised to date, all volunteers, hosting an event for the joy of cars Plenty of pre-war stuff is there again all the way to modern kit. McLaren are bringing the Senna again.
If you have a spare day, it's a brilliant event. Porsche, BMW. Mercedes bring their decent stuff along.

If you haven't been, you should. Every era of car and bike, with owners all happy to chat about all things petrol, diesel...….
Hope to catch you there for a beer.

Epic day, last passenger ride I had a very young elderly gentlemen in the passenger seat. I told him to raise his hand if he wanted to back off a bit, he replied, 'I'm sitting on them'
After the sprint up the hill he said 'I'll take that drive to my grave'. fking hell, totally humbled. Brain a bit frazzled now, had a chat with Edd China and Baron Von Grumble, no JK today but maybe tomorrow.
McLaren Senna was lovely, but the star (for me) was a 1926 Bugatti. Engineering wise, some of the things I learnt today on that car, truly blew me away. Great crowd, cool paddock.
Pics later.

Couldnt make it today, but was there Friday setting up the outside bar.......
What wrap did you decide on Yonex ?
Hi, TBH I kind of ran out of time and didn't spend the money. What with the Griffith bills this month it's been a bit hectic. It's not a dead project, just mothballed for a bit. What wrap did you decide on Yonex ?

The afternoon after the day before.
A great weekend overall, met a load of new faces as well as some who have attended for years. I'm still truely amazed at the variety of the cars on show, from a steam powered 1900's chariot to a Ferrari 250 SWB.
I was surprised at the interest in the car again, especially in the company it was keeping, loads of questions about everything from 'if I built it myself, to what the standard boost was'

The runs on the second day were good, a little bit damp in places mind you.

About 5 mins before I was standing there waiting to go up, then those terrifically brave motorcyclists declared it unsafe It was actually more the road back down into the town which has an off camber hairpin, it's a bit unpleasant when washed in chalk and bits of tree etc. Anyway, after an hour of it we restarted.
Not much grip so just made a lot of noise. Passenger got covered in mud but was grinning like a Cheshire cat. The final passenger was one of the events people. Similarly a good time. It's all a bit manky this morning but it's just dirt. Quite a few yesterday left when the weather turned, I didn't see the point, people had come to see the cars and both seats, despite the token gesture with the umbrella were completely full One guy suggested a plug in the base of them
ZZR's were predictable enough and I was getting quite confident, always a good time to pack things in.
The start of the cleanup today. The worst is off and I'll be messing with it more in the week. It'll take a while to get it spotless. Main bits are all ACF'd and treated. Still comes up very well.

So in summary.
Sunburn, dry runs. Monsoon and mud. Bikers hiding in tents. Met Baron Von Grumble, who, by the way, is a really cool bloke as well as Edd China, who was flogging his new book. Already have people asking about passenger rides next year

My first time there this year, I took the 1977 CHP Monaco for it’s first big outing. It performed well and raised a few chuckles:

A great event with a nice atmosphere, really well organised and a fantastic selection of cars. Like many others it was fun to meet Edd China and get a signed copy of his new book. Will be back next year for sure.

You were just behind us, scared the crap out of me with that siren in the paddock https://youtu.be/iR9LIqcX36A

On behalf of Kop Hill Climb, thanks for the kind words about the event ............. and yes we will take a look at traffic management etc.
Finding the event seemed okay (there are signs to "Kop Hill /\"), but when exiting the event - being forced to turn away from Princess Risborough in an old car with no GPS and in an area with poor 3G, meant an 'interesting' journey home! It's a great event, but I have one criticism.
Once your car has been accepted for an entry, it will be accepted the following year.
This possibly prevents the appearance of more interesting vehicles being accepted because of numbers limitation
and gives rise to the danger of seeing the same vehicles year after year.

You are incorrect that "Once your car has been accepted for an entry, it will be accepted the following year.", that couldn't be further from the way we operate.
We 'rest' vehicles that have been the prior couple of years if we can, obviously some are just too good and unique to refuse, and actively look for new vehicles. This year for example of the 1200 vehicles that registered an interest 400+ were never seen before and many of these were accepted in preference to similar vehicles that we'd accepted previously.

Yes it seems the return Blue and Pink route signs may not have been place, I've had several reports they weren't so I'll flag that.

That's good to hear, I was obviously misinformed both by one of your sponsors who I was chatting to, and later by an entrant who told me that he'd been up the hill year after year (and loved it!).You are incorrect that "Once your car has been accepted for an entry, it will be accepted the following year.", that couldn't be further from the way we operate.
