Great photo’s - haven’t been since my dad ran in the early 80’s. Cannot believe Jim Tiller is still going in the Allard.

Great event - great to see it’s still going!

Thanks!

Yeah, I suspect the ol fella still holds some of the records there, too. Still going strong. Amazing considering the car's 60-something years old now and its driver is a good twenty years older than that bow

The entrants field still feels like it's getting more sparse every year and you still get the same cars and bikes every year and every year I say I won't bother next year but then it comes around and I still go on the principle it's definitely better than not going to the Speed Trials. And every year it's still a damned good do. Be nice if Brighton Council would fix the bloody walkways along the second tier of Madeira Drive though, it's been years that they've been shut as "unsafe". Anyone would think that just because they're a liberal green lefty Council they hate motorists and want to make the Speed Trials as customer-hostile as they possibly can scratchchin

Great pix and glad it's still going, especially considering the political climate in that neck of the woods.

Some wonderful pics. Thought the Golf R Litchfield was rather quick as was the M3 engined Golf van. It was beautifully built. Utter disgrace that Brighton council are content to let the terracing fall into disrepair. Quite happy to spend £12 million on the other side of the pier though. If it was owned by a private person/company then they would have slapped a preservation order on it and fined them for everyday that it was left derelict. 3 iconic structures in Brighton and two are rusty hulks. Perhaps they are hoping if they leave it long enough it will fall down and then they can rebuild it as shops!

Thankyou for the kind words smile

Yeah, KH500s. 'S wot I meant wink

I didn't get to spend as long as I'd like either taking photos or at the actual Trials as I was with my lad whose tolerance for such events is limited. It does tend to be the same cars and stuff I've taken photos of every year though. I can't see anyone ever coming close to the eight-and-a-bit seconds set by the Gould Puma; the road surface is worse year after year. One old boy was telling me it was alright for these bikes with newfangled suspension but with his rigid-framed beast he was practically pissing blood cos of the bumps laugh

It is disgusting how Brighton allow such dereliction to pervade what ought to be one of the premier promenades in the country, and one so iconic in film and social history. Especially when one year the terrace was claimed too unsafe for viewing at the Speed Trials but somehow was safe for spectators at the Olympic cycling event that was held there rolleyes The Speed Trials is, I believe, the oldest motorsport event still running, having only had breaks for war since 1905 and you'd think it would be promoted as a national treasure. Sadly, the council clearly are cynically aware that they'll get all the revenue they can eat from the hordes of drunken and debauched hen parties and student discount nights who'll come regardless... and so be it if that turns the town into am ocean of vomit after dark irked I work out of Brighton and parts of it are superb, but you couldn't pay me to live there

Great photos. Really good.

Better than the event itself, if you know what I mean.

I believe the terrace needs something in the order of £24m to fix the whole lot, but enough has been crowdfunded to fix 3 arches. I imagine it will fall further into disrepair until it is unfixable. I dont think there is the public money available for these expensive Victorian constructions.

Back on topic, a great event that has become a calendar fixture for me. I particularly enjoy that it can still exist even in Green Party Brighton, always feels like a bit of a two fingers to them.

Lovely photos cool
