Hi PHers,

Thanks for PH headshed for allowing us to promote the latest Mission Motorsport fundraiser here on the forums. With assistance from Ministry of Defense DIO for use of a runway in Oxfordshire (just off A34) this event is a pure fundraiser for MM. All cash raised on the day will go directly into MM coffers, being immediately deployed to assist Britain's Wounded, Injured & Sick servicemen and women.

Introducing... Launch Control...

• Inaugural event – low numbers, high quality, no public access
• MoD site – very high quality surface, runway with two lanes, swept for debris, safe run off and return leg
• 0-60, ¼ mile time and ½ mile speed recorded
• Uniquely – pictures of launches, times and speeds recorded onto live event Facebook feed
• Viewing / admin from alongside the ¼ mile point giving live action spectating for participants throughout the day
• London bus coffee bar, BBQ military catering, posh loos, properly serviced
• 104db static
• BBC Top Gear Magazine supporting, editorial, online, social – bringing longtermers.

The day is open to any (4 wheeled) vehicle. To book one can elect for a full day (0900-1700) at £120 or a half day (0900-1230 or 1330-1700) at £75.

To book your place please follow the link below and be a part of a fantastic day. We've some spectacular kit coming from a GT3 Bentley GT to a Rallycross car, run what you bring to see how you stack up against mates.

Hi Ben,

How many are you limiting to? How many runs will we get? Just clearing it with the missus wink

Do I get a discount for being booked onto RoR as well hehe

Hi Dan!

Good question - ceiling reached is c.50 vehicles in the morning and afternoon sessions. Realistically the flash to bang of each launch will be around 120-180 seconds. The cars go off in pairs (runway is very wide) so we're working on the assumption of:

2 x cars every 2-3 minutes launched = 40-60/hr.

Some attendees will want to get in as many as they can, others less frequently. There will be ample opportunity to get many runs though for all.

Discounts - ha! Good try, sadly not! We'll spend it wisely though, you can trust MM to make sure it heads directly at those beneficiaries who are hardest to reach...

Just booked in for the morning with my new (to me) CLS63 AMG.
Gives me the opportunity to explore some of what it has to offer in a controlled environment while supporting a great cause so a win-win.
Then off to Donington for British GT & F3 for the rest of the weekend.

How far car the cars run btw? Is it half mile then back off or can they keep going all the way to the end of the runway?

The afternoon session is still available, possibly a tech FU on ticketwaiver. I'll have a look!

Ref slowdown... it's timed up to the half mile marker and there is a slow down after that. No need for big braking!

Hi Ben, roughly how many runs do you think for the afternoon session? More than say 3-4?

Thanks Ben, just booked for the afternoon.. Would I be ok to arrive around midday, or are those times you mentioned strict?

Thanks G

We went on the morning session and have to say that, as you'd expect from an MM organised event, it was mega.
There was some awesome machinery present and although our s/charged Eunos was out-classed/out-dragged by most others we had an incredible time.
Where else could you see a Bentley GT (as in proper GT racer) pitched up against a shopping trolley Toyota Corolla but fitted with a GT 4 engine?
Congrats to all at MM, organisers, marshals et al for running one of the best events of the year.
I'm sure you've spawned a classic and trust your founding participants will have first refusal next time?
Pics and times on MM facebook under gallery/pictures - expect to be impressed. Perhaps someone else can link - Ludditism rules...
Cheers, Pewe.

I totally echo these sentiments. Very well organised and a lovely array of superb cars. I cannot wait for the other runs to be posted, as I am sure I perfected my launch control 😀 G
