Is the childrens trust charity supercar event any good?
Discussion
I'm thinking of going to this on 1st June but I'm not sure if it's worth the two hour commute. I'm more into jap car events, but do like all performance cars and would like to go to a supercar event. However this looks like there will be lots of static supercars on display with a lot of them going around the track at a safe/not too fast speed. As there will be many cars on track at the same time with passengers rides I'm guessing you wont be seeing supercars pushed to their limits or being driven like they were meant to be driven around a track?
Am I right i.e. is it static displays with not too fast racing in which case its probably not what i'm looking for, or will there be plenty of supercars being pushed to their limits/being driven round a track like they were meant to be etc?
If this isn't what I'm looking for where else might be a good place to see supercars in the way I'm hoping for?
Thanks.

The day is designed first and foremost to support the Childrens Trust by giving passengers an experience of a ride in a Supercar.
For safety they'll be some additional chicanes/ restrictions on the circuit that will limit top end speeds but you'll see plenty of Supercars and many of them working hard in the slow to medium speed areas of the circuit.
I'm not sure there is another event that would give you what you're asking for, maybe come to Goodwood for a Saywell charity day but then there's only about 30 cars being used on track (5 at a time)and will be some but not loads parked up

When It used to be held at Dunsfold I would say almost all the cars were used on track rather than static displays. Of course there was other activities to do off the track but the main event, or so to speak, were the track based passenger rides.
No racing takes place at all, you are paying for a ride in as safe as environment as possible, but like previously mentioned the cars don't drive round at a sedate speed and you get to fully experience what a supercar is like.
Anyway come along pay for a ride (or two) have a great day and more to the point feel good because you have helped to make someones life a little better.

I won't be there as the viper is not allowed around Goodwood as it's too noisy.
😕Hi Mark, did you talk to anybody about it? I know Bruce has regularly tracked there in 675/ Speciale also I used ot do charity days there in my 599, they seem to be able to be more flexible on charity days 👍
I did a Help for Heroes charity day down there, they even had my name and car details hanging over one of the boxes in the paddock I pulled up to the track with wounded soldier and they point blank refused me entry onto the track due to noise.
So I ended up taking the troops out on the local public roads making as much noise as I could.
I kept asking Peter, Richard and Mal, about noise DB levels and no one got back to us with a max limit so most of our club members are now doing something else.

I'm not running any silencers on my car, no issue at Dunsfold, I shall have to keep my fingers crossed that they let me on track.
Its a real shame you can't make it Mark, you know the Vipers are one of my highlights of the day.

105db drive by 101db (whatever that might equate to?)
well there are a lot of the usual suspects that will not be able to get anywhere near that!Im at 127db
Seriously, this is what Goodwood did to me, Drive up to track entrance, car engine warm and with car in static position they went around the back with a db meter, I had to rev the car to 4000 rpm.
the guy laughed and refused me track entrance.
Good luck. Some of the Lambo boys are going to get a shock! (so that will be 105db static test and 101 Driving by the two db sensors on track).

There wont be a static display as such as we hope all the cars will be out on track.
We are also doing passenger rides out on the public roads in a selection of classic, sports and supercars.
In addition there are hovercraft rides and stay safe driving experience where teenagers can get a taste of driving for the first time.
It really is a great day out for the whole family and every penny goes to support children who have suffered brain injuries.
If you do come. Pop over to the Sporting Bears yellow tent and say hello.
Regards
Michael

As per above comments, no static displays on the Saturday however the Sunday is the Goodwood Supercar Breakfast Club meet where there will be hundreds of super cars on show.Am I right i.e. is it static displays with not too fast racing in which case its probably not what i'm looking for, or will there be plenty of supercars being pushed to their limits/being driven round a track like they were meant to be etc?

just lately goodwood seem to be more forgiving about the noise level , as been said especially towards charity days, there is at least two maybe three noise monitors around the circuit directly linked into the local council office so what they do is ask you to short shift when going past them if your over the drive by limit, have seem plenty black flagged when this is repeatedly ignored but baring in mind this is the first time this event has been held at goodwood i think they will more lenient than usual, looks like it will be a case of suck it and see otherwise it will turn into a static display of super cars and that's the last thing goodwood would wont,
