VSCC Welcomes Massive Support
For Lotus 50th Anniversary
Following early season announcements for a celebration of 50 Years of Lotus Engineering, VSCC are proud to confirm support from Lotus Sport and Performance, Classic Team Lotus, The Historic Lotus Register, Lotus Drivers Club, Club Lotus etc. for this exciting sporting Lotus jamboree with action both on and off track on 21 September 2002 at Silverstone. The backdrop to this event will be the annual VSCC Racing Green meeting featuring vintage and historic racing in a fascinating 10 race programme including the Hawthorn trophy races. For our Lotus celebrations we will be welcoming all Lotus cars from across the years. This will include:
Ø Racing. Many Lotus sports racing cars will be eligible for the 50s Sports Car race programmed for this meeting – indeed we invariably have Lotus cars enter these races and for this meeting we will reserve a number of places for them. In addition there will be a one-marque race for Pre-1966 Lotus F1, F2, FJ and Tasman series racing cars. Some of the entry for this race will form part of the 'Racing Car Review' (see below). We will, therefore have at least 2 races with a strong Lotus content
Ø A 'Racing Car Review'. This consists of selected examples of type numbers across the years to provide a static display and, for those who do not race but who wish to get on circuit, an on-track demonstration at or near racing speeds. With the help of Classic Team Lotus, Historic Lotus Register and in addition to cars in our own members’ ownership, this should cover the full spectrum of competition cars from an early Chapman special through the Grand Prix years to the Elise based GT1 and Autobytel racers.
Ø Road Cars Clubs, such as Club Lotus and The Lotus Drivers Club will have infield parking areas and some of their cars will be able to have a few laps of the circuit at lunch time.
