Poppy Run / Last Post (Ieper) and Alfa Romeo fun.
Discussion
Up at 3.45, run to Poppy Run (Belgium) from Utrecht to near Gent in 2 hours.
Last years Run I was handed over this gorgeous GTV 1750 Bertone: a delightful little car that handles perfect on both highways and rural roads.
This year the Alfetta GTV6 Busso from Davids Alfa - Squadra Rosso - collection was in my hands: 160 brake in a 1200 kgs wedge, glorious soundbyte and - for those who wonder where my Alfa itch came from - the Alfetta (a golden 2.0) was the very first Alfa I ever sat in as a passenger.
Both GTVs resting here. There's a 300 kg weight difference in favour of the 105. On the highway the heavier Busso is in its element. Up to 3500 revs there's lovely power but past that very mark the Alfetta lifts off. Past 5K the howl is intoxicating.
Both GTVs have a great seating position for both driver and passenger. The buckets in the V6 are superb.
Els (far left) steered the agile and loud 155 Q4 (AWD). With 230+ brake on her right foot this Delta Integrale in disguise (official AR press car!) could well be the quickest beast in our company. Very easy to drive car!

On a more modern note:
Alfa Romeo Giullietta: it was quick. 4C 4 cilinder turbo with 240 brake and soon to be chipped for more horses.
Rare modern GTV with the 2 litre V6 turbo in. FWD and very very quick. Not loud enough though...
Hard to ever encounter a Sud Ti in pristine condition and here it is. Nut and bolt and the best NA boxer sound ever. Giulia 1600 is in Alfaholics trim and has the big lights and the loud horns.
Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600 Alfaholics. What's not to like?
Alfasud Ti behind the quick Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600 Alfaholics. Early in the morning.
More to come.

That grey G was always too far behind or too far in front of us
Beautiful Ieper:
Flanders museum. Built after the area was bombed to the ground.
Ieper, main square. This part of the beautiful city is drowned in WW1 memorabilia and sales. Poppy chocolates and all that.
Crowds waiting for the Poppy parade.
Back lit street towards the kazematten.
Next: the ceremony.
