Chateau Impney Hillclimb.

Agree, some fascinating machinery and great to see elbows out driving.
My only gripe is I thought yesterday's entry cost @ £25/head a bit steep considering somewhere like Gurston charges £10 (I know different venue, ownership, commercial enterprise etc. etc.) but I would think twice about going again.
Cheers, Pewe.

I'm going on Sunday and rather than start a new thread thought I'd tag onto this one. Any of you who have been before care to comment on the car parking and entry queues? I'm going in a vintage car (PVT to be precise) and prefer not to sit on lengthy queues if I can avoid it. What's the access like and can I turn up at, say 9:30 am and get in ok?

I can only assume that the lack of responses is a good thing and there won't be many people there!
We went two years running and unless they've put in new roads/traffic management there were significant queues.Probably best to arrive mega early and beat the queues...
Enjoy - it's a great day out.
Cheers, Pewe.

Worried now, mega early won't be possible as I'm staying about 45 mins away at a hotel and the idea is that it's a pleasant weekend away with my wife. O may have to opt for late instead, say 10:30am? Probably best to arrive mega early and beat the queues...
We were there at 8.50 am and had no problems. It got busy about 9.30 but traffic was always moving.
We go every year and have a fantastic time. It’s the best organised event of its type I have ever visited. The front of the chateau is a good place to spectate from as there can be some impromptu demonstrations which take place. Hope the driver of the worlds fastest lawn mower is ok, he tried a 360 but flipped it and landed on his head.
The food and refreshments are very good and varied too.

I saw him walk off, helmet removed waving at the crowd as they gave their appreciation, helping the marshals push it away. I didn't see the accident of the A7 Ulster, but I think that was worse... again, the lady owner walked to the ambulance herself once she was out of the car though...
Indeed, had a great day there today. The traffic management seemed good, and what’s on offer and the entry lists get better and better each year. Tasty lamb flatbread and Church Farm IPA for lunch. Great to see such a wonderful mix of cars being enjoyed up the hill. The 1955 (?) TVR prototype was going well, not seen it before!
That IPA washed down a stone baked pizza like a treat.
It surprised me how many people were really throwing their cars around! Like, really ON IT. Lots of sideways action. Which always unnerves me a little when they're tall vintage cars with no roll over protection. I saw a Bugatti T13 roll at bicester a few weeks back and that really wrenched my stomach!
If anyone is interested, I've posted a bunch of today's photos on Facebook and made the album public...

We went for the first time this year and bumped into some PH friends. It had a nice vibe & isn’t FOS priced nor currently overly busy. We’d definitely go back again next year.
Likewise.... we stayed at a really nice place only 10mins away and already said we'll stay again next year! There seemed to be a very welcome lack of dick heads there. You know the sort that leave their rubbish everywhere, drink too much and be generally be tts. There's usually some no matter where you go but everyone this weekend was clean, tidy and civilised, even in the traffic in and out, which was a revelation and helped the ambience.
Wel, we had an excellent day there today, 50 yards queue to get in and the traffic really flowed well getting out I was in the '33 Lagonda and the plugs oil up if it sits in traffic which is why is was concerned but no problems at all (unlike Goodwood). As has already been said, nice atmosphere, plenty to see, and no oiks. Better not say anymore else it will get crowded next year

It was much more a family affair IMO & they seem to have tried hard to make it so. It was nice to see the likes of Harry Metcalfe & VBH there. I didn’t quite get to the FOS at its inception, though I’d like to think the organisers have looked closely at the good/bad points of the FOS.There seemed to be a very welcome lack of dick heads there.
