It's back again for the second bank holiday weekend. I think it's something like 150-200 cars racing on the hillclimb circuit with another 200+ taking part in a static show in front of the terraces.

From the Croydon Guardian: "Ex-racers Mike Crabtree, Gerry Marshall and Martin Thomas will all be in attendance at the event... Gerry Marshall passed away in 2005."

Thanks for the info, Jason.

This will also be our fifth year, and we used to do both days until we found out about the Edenbridge Car Pageant on the Monday, which features John Surtees driving his racing cars around the narrow roads.

Should have just secured a press pass to photograph the Sunday. I love this event; such a good day out. Let's hope the weather stays as it is!

I'll be in the Show Area hosting the Sevenoaks & District Motor Club stand.
If you're interested in getting out & being involved in motorsport, please pop over for a chat.

We want to help people understand how accesible motorsport is! And just much fun you can have relatively cheaply, it's not all about rallying & circuit racing. Plus it great to actually competete, rather than bashing away on a trackday, lap after lap with no idea of if you're actually going quick!

hope to see you there smile

Yeah I had a great day! I ended up taking best part of 1000 shots. That'll be time consuming to sift through. hehe

I wish the McLaren had done more than 1 lap.

Spent a very enjoyable morning there - my first time, but I can't think how it could be a much better event (apart from reducing the deafening volume of the announcer).

Out of interest is it mostly the same cars that run both days or does it vary?

Going by the last couple of years - some do, but the majority of them are different.

Always a great day, whatever day you decide to go on, although we were lucky with the weather on Sunday!

Glad to hear everyone enjoyed themselves. Have attended this event for the the past two years and will be doing the same next year.
Decided to enter this year and must say, one of the best organised events I've attended. If anyone managed to get any photos of my Escort Cosworth and doesn't mind sharing them, could you please let me know.
Thanks,

Matt.

Loved your Cosworth, Matt! I'm currently working through 1000 shots so I'll keep an eye out. I was doing a lot of panning photography and if I remember rightly your Escort was very difficult to track as it rarely went in a straight line. hehe

Did you do all 3 heats? I've seen one out of focus shot of you early in heat 1 but after a quick scan over the thumbnails I can't see any more.

Thanks for coming back to me so quickly Robbie. You must have been busy taking that many shots.
I did both practice runs and all three times runs. If you do have any it would be great to see them.

Thanks again,

Matt.

Best bit for me, and the reason I went, was seeing the 3 cars from that famous saloon car race (Camaro, Viva & Escort) together again for the first time in 40+ years at the venue. Had a chat with Mike Crabtree too.

I keep watching this over an over again, it's brilliant!

Thanks, I've just realised there's an entrants list on the site- doh!
If I can get my car running then I want to have a go next year but could probably only make one day, so this is great news.

Cant believe i hadnt heard about this event sooner given the it is right on my door step. I went today and although it was a bit wet at times there was still a great turn out of cars on and off the circuit and if anything the damp/wet weather made the launches more interesting.

Will definitely be going back next year

I'm glad you all had a good time. I thought it was great and the 10 was worth it just to see the old saloon cars.

ClassicMotorNut, you sir are a legend! That is exactly what I've been trying to find. Is this a photo you took, or one you found online? Thanks so much for sharing it, I didn't manage to get any photo's from the event due to time but would like to add a few to the car's history file.
As said above by other's, I would highly recommend attending this event, whether you intend to compete or spectate, a great day out.

Yes please, would love to see them. If it's easier you can email them to etamotorsport@gmail.com.
On my last run I decided to have a bit of fun and switch the anti lag on shoot, should have tried it earlier really biggrin.

Thanks again,

Matt.
