Hello,
My brother just told me to check out Carfest as there have been rumours about one occuring in the North. There seems to be quite a lot of interesting action on twitter (#carfestnorth) and something on the carfest website.

http://www.carfest.org/page.cfm/Action=Form/FormID...

but other than that i dont know. des anyone else have any other information?

From what i understand it looks like Chris Evans is involved in this one too.

He's been up north researching venues this week apparently...

It'll end up being another ticket disappointment farce where you never get through on phone or internet but all the tickets sell in under 17minutes !

Is it me or has Evans become a self centered show off.
This weekend he purchased a tractor !
Many of his listeners could not afford a bottle of wine !

I am sick of him.

feel better now I have ranted.

I'd like to know where the 66% that isn't going to charity is going and should the BBC be giving free advertising to it.

Surely the answer to that is - paying for the event. Not all the businesses involved will be able to afford to give their services for free (portable toilets might be an example).

I for one am excited about having another special car event locally and I don't think it will detract at all from things like CITP.

Cheer up chaps - he's only having some fun and doing something for chairity.

Don't get me wrong, happy to have another northern event. I am more concerned about getting a venue for September; then finding out it the same day...

Think people forget that running an event costs and like you mention; Some just ask for cost, which in this day and age is reasonable. Plus hiring just a marquee 6m 6m is £200!. Signs, insurance and accounts all cost. In fact the list goes on (i should know smile)

Now back to sorting out an entrance sign..... £300!!!

One of the last tags on twitter seems to suggest that Carfest North has confirmed Cholmondeley Castle as it's venue!

An interesting choice, but i guess as it has some race prepared surfaces (for cpop) it's an obvious choice.

i'd like to know when it is as this summer is looking hilariously busy for major events in the northwest/cheshire as can be seen here

spin

ETA: This article seems to suggest 8/9th of September.

Holy thread revival hehe Used to love going to the CarFest events when I worked at Caterham; we were literally selling cars on the stand there. Sadly timing isn't great this year as it clashes with Silverstone Classic so I think they'll take a hit because of it.

Haven't been for a few years now though so would be good to hear your thoughts!

I think the weather might have well kept quite a few away, it was horrible this year
