CARING WITH CARS 2012 - FREE ADMISSION

http://www.caringwithcars.com

Now in its second year, Caring with Cars is a private, relaxed event for PistonHeads members and car and bike enthusiasts within the rural, landscaped grounds of the private Downs School and the adjoining Children's Hospice, located 3 miles from the M5 J19 near Bristol (BS48 1PF). It is organised and marshalled by regular PHers and all money raised will be given to the charity.

Last year, CwC raised over £5400 for the charity with over 350 cars (and some bikes) attending plus a Red Arrows flypast, and we hope to raise even more in 2012. The Children's Hospice South West provides expert care for over 1,000 seriously ill children and support for their families. Please come along, have a nice day out and support this important cause.

Click here to read a PHer's uplifting story of how CHSW has supported his family.

THE EVENT

The ethos of CwC is variety and equality; in 2011 our showcase area highlighted such cars as a Duesenberg Model J, an off-road Beetle, a rare Trabant, a Metro 6R4, a Mosler, a Brooke Prototype, a Peugeot 205 GTi 1FM, a CLK DTM and a Bugatti Type 57 amongst others. There was even a Formula 1 car pulled on a trailer by a Dodge Viper!

We are sponsored again by Bath Audi, who will again bring some interesting vehicles. In 2011, as well as other models, they showed one of the first RS3s in the country and an all-options-ticked R8 and R8 Spyder. This year they have cajoled Audi UK and have secured the only road-registered R8 GT Spyder in the country, and one of only 33 RHD vehicles existing.

We hope to continue to mark out CwC as something different in the calendar, and with this in mind at present we will have:

- A low-key, friendly atmosphere

- A number of rare and interesting showcase vehicles arranged on the lawn

- 3 FREE expert talks in the school's purpose built theatre:
  • Mike Cooper, well-known race and road driving coach will give two talks about advanced driving techniques with Q&A session
  • Lotus Renault F1 - one of the team will be talking about Formula 1 and the team's work with Q&A session

- Live music

- A large raffle of prizes worth winning, which are currently:
  • Rolls Royce factory tour with chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce transport
  • VIP Hospitality at Silverstone Classic meeting, courtesy of Roger Wills Racing
  • Porsche driving experience day at Silverstone, courtesy of Porsche Centre Bristol
  • Britcar hospitality thanks to TopCats Racing
  • Prescott Revival tickets and hillclib run
  • VMAX200 Ticket, courtesy of VMAX200
  • £1000 of paint/bodywork restoration at Alsa Automotive
  • Private tour for you and 7 friends of Lotus Renault F1
  • Private flight over the Severn valley in a Cessna
  • Exclusive balloon flight for two from Fishtank.cc
  • A day with Red Victor Racing at Santa Pod
  • Audi A5 Cabriolet for the weekend from Bath Audi
  • Lunch or dinner at the lovely Trouble House Inn in Tetbury
  • Gatorz designer sunglasses courtesy of Looks Direct
  • Chipex paint chip correct kit
  • Family ticket for Farmer Palmer's Farm Park near Bournemouth
  • Two Wurzels CDs signed by all the band members
  • Car Design Yearbook courtesy of Children's Hospice South West
- Andy Carter, recently retired Top Fuel drag racer, will be attending with his son's kart team

- Pro-Stock and Nostalgia drag cars, plus a Super Street drag bike

- Quality hot and cold food and drink priced very reasonably inc. an award winning ice cream vendor

- Real loos and luxury loo trailer - no stinky plastic boxes!

A fantastic event last year and we will definitely be going this year.

The one and only fault from last year, is, I didn't see one person selling raffle tickets, or anywhere to buy them. So maybe this year, the sellers could be a bit more recognisable please smile

Like a big gazebo with a queue beside it near the showcase cars? winkbiggrin

We shall endeavour to be more recognisable though and site the gazebo where no one can miss it.

Hi,
Just a quick heads up - I've just tried to sign up using a link on the "About the Event" page of the Caring with Cars website but found it took me to last years vehicle list. Looks like the link hasn't been changed from last year. I've found the live link now.

I hope so, we need to persuade Yorkieboy and Mudskipper who did battle last year (or any other local volunteers).

Really looking forward to this again, I was lucky enough to win the bodywork voucher last year, and Al's work was fantastic. Combined it with a mini hoon around some Welsh roads which was great fun too!
