I've only owned my Gallardo a couple of months and yesterday was my first hot weather/slow drive. I was wondering if the water radiator cooling fan is VERY loud on all cars? I was going to have a look at the fan (inside the front nearside wheelarch?) to see if it was rubbing, but I thought I'd try this forum first to see if it's normally a noisy component.
Any help appreciated

My 2005 cars fans are loud, not all the time, but when the thermostat turns them on they are loud. So are the fans on other Gallardo's I have heard. I think it makes the car sound extra good.

Hi,yeah loud as in air speed, but not a mechanical noise like the fan blades hitting
the shroud.
First time mine came on while i was parked was like a sand storm, made me feel confident
of their ability.

ditto
the gust exiting through the lhs wheelarch is strong enough to blow grass cuttings and dust up

Thanks for the comments, the photo was very helpful (I thought it was on the other side - or are there two?) I'm beginning to have doubts about what I heard, but I can't ignore it.
Think I'll take off the wheel and have a look.
Unless anybody knows where the thermostatic switch is located to "force" the fan on?

My Dad has a 05 gallardo which for some completely unexplainable reason he never drives, so I keep it ticking over for him.

Anyway, the fans on that are pretty loud when the kick in.

Just in case anybody follows this up, I had a look the other day and sure enough some small stones had found there way between the fan and the duct. Two minutes picking with a screwdriver with the wheel off and job done.

Picked up my car Friday, first time I heard the fans kick in I actually thought it had blown up and had a real panic.

In fact, everything on this 07 G Spyder is loud and abusive. My 430 Spider was much more subtle and graceful in comparison

I had that too on the day I picked it up. In fact my exciting day Friday was a bit of a nightmare. Left my house at 03:30, got up north by 07:00 ish. Deal done and I’m gone by 09:30. Had to make a detour on way back then I got stuck on M25 for two hours as three accidents, fans were going on and off, I’m thinking I’m gonna need a new clutch by the time I get home with this traffic as I try my best to leave a gap so I can just stay in 1st gear without slipping the clutch.

Petrol icon appears yes and beeps and then I’m flicking the bloody petrol button and nothing is happening. I’m a tad stressed and exhausted and I can’t put petrol in. So I recall about pressing the two buttons into service mode in order to get to the petrol cap. So there I am, in a bright yellow G Spyder with the car looking like it’s about to set off a rocket launcher struggling to put petrol in while all the owners of normal cars look on giggling to themselves.

I eventually got home at 6pm and it was just a very very stressful day.

On the upside I have worked out that obviously the engine must be off, key out in order to open the flap otherwise a clumsy passenger could flip it open at speed.

There was one upside. Sun came out, roof down and a tunnel...booooom
