Anyone own a 456 ?

copycat...you know i just bought one!!!!
all i can say is very smooth & quick, loads more room than the porker and a fair bit more individual.
High depreciation means you can bag a £170K motor for a bargain 100k as a V/W plate, 80k as a S/T plate or as low as £50-55K for a perfect condition, sub 15,000 mile L or M reg. LHD means you are looking at 40k upwards.
Worth buying from a dealer as early rear shocks were known to leak and cost £1000 to replace. Belt service is about 3k but only needs doing once every 3 years or 36,000 miles. Best get this done at time of purchase then!!
Servicing costs are high at a main dealer £1000ish or about £6-700 at a specialist such as QV or DK engineering.
It is less of a racer than the 911 but far more of a GT! And i think a bit of a bargain at present as the 550 is 90-100k plus - in the 55-60k price bracket it is up against a few doggy 348's, some higher mileage RHD 355's and Testarossa's. I think it is a bit of a bargain Ferrari and good value for a 442bhp FERRARI!

in a couple of weeks all going well
4s is a lovely car, would perhaps have had one myself but waiting list was long. Did get offered my choice of M3 for July delivery (supposedly a 18month wait) but knocked it back!
Either is lovely, Porsche is probably a safer bet but its not a Ferrari and therefore would not have satisfied my ambition to own one before my 30th birthday!!

Hi Lee,
When I was looking to get a 996 C4S, I was looking for someone who knew someone, and many people came forward with claimed contacts. None materialised. Even one German guy who has contacts in Porsche itself didn't help!.
Maybe I can learn a lesson or two from you?
I drove a 996 Carrera 4 and decided that I wanted the Ferrari 355, which is what I am going to go for, but when I do decide to get a Porsche, you will definitely be first port of call!
I just hate the Ferrari dealers attitude that they won't budge below a discount of two grand. JCT seem keen to sell but I just haven't been bothered to go that far north!!!

I got 7k off the asking price of my ferrari, but if car is cheaper than other similar cars then you cant expect much more i guess...
Lee, so you are getting the C4S then??? Have you been offered a decent trade in on your 996?? I ask as i know there is a major stock problem at a lot of dealers at present so they are offering very good money...i got very good money for mine as an outright purchase by Dick Lovett (mention my name if you give him a try...no messing about just a sensible offer and he comes to get the car)
Refreshing change in dealer attitudes..ps why no 456 then??
Ben
bennno, who did you get your Ferrari from? Maranello sales and JCT are very stingy on the price. It does help to show them similar cars and pit them against each other. I think its not a good idea to just straight ask for a discount, they go all sour on you!
Plus, Maranello Sales tried to get me to buy on credit, I told him I wanted to pay cash but he insisted I have a look at the credit terms and told me I could probably wisely invest my money somewhere else!!
Anyway congrats on the ferrari, what do you think of it so far?
loudpedal, I wish I could make serious money from kicking a football around!
