I have been thinking to get one to replace our Toureg as the Family car, as I think they are a beautiful car, just wondering how reliable Masers are these days. Ive owned TVRs so not afraid of running costs, just would prefer to go into ownership with my eyes open? Are there any known issues, how reliable are they, servicing costs etc any onfo from owners would be appreciated.

Cheers guys

Mike

Three levels of service (main dealer price quoted)

Year 1,3,5 - approx £550

Year 2,4 - approx £1100

Year 6 - approx £1550

Clutch around £1500. (between two SD3 readings I had 6% wear over 2200 miles)

MPG around 15.8

Tyres , not changed them yet but expect £800 or so.

Wouldn't recommend it as a "family" car unless you also have another car for Tesco's/B&Q runs etc.

Cheers, not too dissimilar to my 997 then, which I will be keeping for the fun sunny days. I will probably keep my Touareg for all the mundane stuff like that although as I have a Child I park in the wider child spaces and regularly go in the 997.

What's the reliability like, are they like masers of old or is the QP OK?

Cheers for the info.

Actually I disagree with the post above, they make brilliant family cars! Ran mine for a year and it was totally reliable, and a great way to get about. If i hadn't got a guaranteed trade in for a new GranTourismo S I would still have it. Make sure you get it thoroughly checked out before you buy but if it has been well maintained there should be little to worry about, other than the usual costs outlined above. I absolutely loved mine and so too did my two kids, the school run was always an event! Best of luck.

Haven't broken down, the only real thing to watch out for is a flat battery so a trickle charger is a must if you don't run the car daily.
