Has anyone had any insurance quotes recently? I insured a Ferrari 488 for £1100 12 months ago. All quotes are now over £2000. Mcl 600 lt also around £2000. Huracan Spyder quotes are around £3000.

I’ve got no points, no claims and 20+ years of NCB. Car always garaged.

Is everyone finding the same kind of increase? If not, which companies are you using?

My 650 Spider went down from about £1,200 last year to £650 this year - that was with Admiral at the start of September, and that's after a (fault) total loss claim on my previous 650 marginally over 2 years before that (with protected NCD).
My car isn't garaged either.

Weirdly, I just called Admiral and they are quoting similar to last year. For some reason they weren’t coming up on any of the comparison websites. Very strange.

Admiral last year £900 for Pista, this year SF90 10 years NCB 3 points SP30 Admiral won't touch it 4.5k best quote.
Go Compare site came up with 3 quotes sub 3k, when I called them and spent 30 mins on the phone, repeated all the details I filled in on their website. The best quote they came up with was 6.7k- Go figure, nothing more than click bait.

Might be worth going via a broker and let them do all the work.
I use Nowell and Richards who have always been pretty good for me and Howdens ( previously A Plan ) also get mentions - they will have a local branch to you.

I use Howdens for a couple of cars but they were uncompetitive for my Huracan Performante when I had it. I use Locktons and they're competitive.

Had several recommendations for Howdens and I am sure they are great, but when i called about my 650S they said their partners basically won't touch it unless it is garaged. Ended up with Admiral; premium is significantly higher than I paid last year on my 430, but still only about £800.

Variation in quotes was unbelievable. Companies I have used before, including for an F430 and a DB9, were coming back with quotes way over £4000.

And that’s the issue with trying to do all the comparisons yourself.
Insurers change their underwriting strategies all the time and then prices these days are dictated by actuarial and computer modelled stats.
Paradoxically Insurers also don’t seem to encourage loyalty !

As others have said definitely use a specialist broker, not only will they do the shopping around but you need a policy designed for supercars my policy covers me for my first choice of repairer, (no quibble) a like for like hire car if i need it, agreed value and I also get to drive other cars comprehensively.

Admiral's "official" repairer was an official McLaren bodyshop - and actually the one I wanted to use anyway. Agreed value is definitely nice to have - but I had no complaints with my payout from them.

I did have the kind of policy you mention before I bought my first 650 - but as a previous poster has said, they place restrictions and wouldn't insure it unless it was garaged, had tracker etc. etc. The specialist insurers could find me policies where I didn't garage the car - but seemed to still want the same price as if I had all of those benefits without them being there. Hence I moved to Admiral.

Ultimately, I guess we all have to find insurers / policies that work best for us.
