Hi all,
I’m currently in an AMG GTC which I love to bits. All the power I need, can keep up with pretty much everything on the road, handles great, loads of noise etc. But as always I have a hankering for a change.
In an ideal work it would be Mclaren but I’m not sure for some reason. As such I keep looking a little more leftfield (I like my cars a little different) and staring at the new NSX. In particular this one - https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202408223... as it’s the same colour combo (White with red/black interior) as my AMG.
Has anyone on here owned one? If so what are they like to live with?
I’m aware theres just the one service centre in Hendon but that’s not too much of an issue as it’s an hour down the A1 for me.
How are they in terms of reliability and ownership/running costs (Another reason I’m looking at these) and also where do people see values heading? 3 years ago you could pick one up for 80-90k, not they are 110-150k.
Are there any must haves on them and does anyone know this particular car and or dealer?

No experience but that looks lovely. The wheels would look better in silver or gloss black. Dealer has a very good reputation. I say go for it nice to have a super sportscar that you see very few off on the road. If its eligiblle for warranty i would send it down to Hendon for inspection and get a warranty put on.

I can‘t comment on the NSX but have bought a car (F12) from that dealer and use them for car storage and have used them to give a couple of auction purchases the once over. They are very good.

Thanks all so far. Thoughts on the dealer agree with my own research which is good.
Be great to hear from anyone who's owned/ experienced an nsx though smile

I was contemplating one until I found out the only two UK dealer specialists for servicing were both in London.
They look n sound fabulous

Thank you again all - some definite food for thought.
A little concerning there is no aftermarket warranty, my main worry there would be the batteries.
The servicing distance isn't a problem but a good point someone raised was what happens if the only servicing dealer has a change of qualified staff?

I need to do a little more homework I think...

Another consideration that I experienced when considering purchasing a McLaren fairly recently, is that if the main dealer who is resonably close to you decides to relocate elswhere in the country. Not a problem when there are a good few other dealers to choose from, but a potential deal breaker if they are limited.

good friend of mine has an NSX and has had it for a few years.
It looks fantastic in the flesh and sounds meaty when being pushed.

The car needs to be driven or the battery will deteriorate.
From what I understand, there are only a few specialist in the UK who really know these cars so definitely more challenging to maintain than a Merc. But not an unsurmountable challenge.

There have been no concerns around reliability.
The car gets a lot of love and appreciation.

I think the AMG is louder and more visceral, where as the nsx is perhaps more subtle but definitely sits in the supercar category and is probably a bit rarer.

having been a passenger in both cars and driven in front of and behind in convoys, I'd say both are fantastic cars but personalities are very different.

Thank you for your thoughts - it also looks stunning on the pic smile

After a lot of deliberation I've decided it's not a car I want to pursue, much as I may regret it. It looks amazing and has great reviews but my big worries are still dealer support, parts availability for such a rare car, what happens if the one dedicated service dealer stops servicing them? Resale - the white one has now been reduced to sub 100k which whilst a much better option financially does give the impression they will be very hard to sell on again.

I'm going to start looking at Portofinos in the new year once I've decided if I can justify upping my budget a little, I feel I'd also miss a cabrio.

Personally, I think you've made the right decision for all the reasons you've given No shortage of Ferrari dealers. smile

The new NSX is a very interesting, rare and capable car, but with almost no UK dealers and no warranty available it's a very brave purchase, as any failure would be complete guesswork as to how much it would cost to fix or how long it would take.

There's a good Readers Cars thread including a Portofino here https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Thank you, I'll take a look at that smile

The portofino is a lovely looking car and deals with the blobbiness I felt the California suffered from.
