Hi,

I have tried searching this subject on line, you tube etc but I haven't been able to find anything by way of help, so apologies if I am being a bit of a donut and it is on here somewhere (and pls point me in the right direction). I have also looked in the manual but can't find anything there and I have emailed the dealer we bought from.

I am planning a trip to France in the Ferrari 488 and need some advice re headlight beam deflectors. Is there any specific make/type that is best/suitable? I have seen on some non Ferrari forums comments like 'keep a packet in the car only' and 'don't drive at night' but I would like to prepare for any eventuality including tunnel driving (if any). So any advice or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Check your beam pattern before you worry about fitting or carrying deflectors.

Modern HID beams have a much flatter beam pattern than the headlamps of old.

Our FF has flat beams but our F12 has slightly upturned beams at the edges. We toured the UK last autumn in the LHD F12 and had no issues with blinding oncoming traffic (well, none that we were alerted to).

Flat beams on the FF:

If it helps, I’ve toured extensively in Europe in a number of Ferraris and never had beam deflectors. Never had any problems.

Thank you for the replies. I appreciate that some have not felt the need for deflectors, but having been pulled over before albeit for driving a little bit fast in a Countach, the hassle and the fine was, well, not nice. So I’ll try and be good and see what I can come up with:
One photo shows high beam, the other low beam. On low beam it shows a left slight lift and not flat.
I’ve bought eurolites beam adapters (only £6) and will follow the guide for a 458…. A bit of trial and error.

Low beam and showing a slight uplift on the left.

Those look like the shape of our F12 beams (but the other way around). We had no issues touring the UK last year with a LHD beam setup (although we do have the AFS (adaptive headlight cornering) option on both cars which might affect the amount of glare oncoming traffic would see compared to a non-AFS equipped car).

Is there a setting which lets you switch the beam round for driving on the continent? The F360 has the ability so I would expect the later cars to have something.

Likewise. I think the bigger risk is that you get caught doing something naughty and then they go looking for other things to hit you with.

Most modern cars don't need them. I've thought about sticking them on in random places, out of the beam pattern so I can point to them, if I'm stopped. I doubt anyone knows where they should go, other than the manufacturer.
