Lp560-4 2013 final edition or r8 v10 plus get 2?
Discussion
Trying to decide between the two , had a 570s but felt it lacked any drama and didn't want to void warranty and add an exhaust as didnt trust it wouldn't brake and would end up needing to make a claim 😆! There is a nice 2013 low mileage lp560-4 near me for sale similar price to a 2018 gen 2 r8 plus . Is it basically just a gen 1 r8 in a different body or would it offer more than the gen 2 r8 in terms of ownership and experience?

Will be very different cars, r8 super easy to use everyday, lots of creature comforts. LP will be rawer and not lacking in drama but first came out in 2003 vs the Audi in 2016. Sunday driver, lambo easy, any day any weather the r8.

youve answered your own question.... the 570s lacked drama, so does the r8, the lambo has it in spades and someA few years ago I looked at a Gallardo and an R8. The R8 was cheaper to buy and run, more usable, and more reliable, and a perfectly good car. In truth I couldn't really afford the G.
I thought about it over the weekend, went back and sat in them both again, and realised that if I bought the R8 then every time I got in it I would think "should have bought the lambo".
So I bought neither and retired early

Every time I sit in my R8 V10 Gen1 I think "I've got a Lambo without all the baggage that Lambos come with" :-) Sure it's far quieter until I spank it, but then I'm 55, and I like it flying under the radar until I floor it. It's fking amazing (mapped to around 580). I pay Audi servicing prices, Audi insurance, and everyone loves it , instead of some people hating me.
Sure, the girls would be more impressed with a Lambo (if girls were actually impressed with boy's cars) and my mates would think I was even richer than I am, but, the R8 V10 is steal of the century, and you'll get a far younger and lower mile R8 than a Lambo unless you get a pre-LP, whcih is a different car again, and last time I looked, still 20k more for similar mileage for a lesser but "cooler" (and more lambo sounding) car.
If you want a Lambo, you have to get a Lambo. An R8 won't scratch that itch. But if you want the same driving eperience, it will.

It's not remotely the same driving or ownership experience........Sure, the girls would be more impressed with a Lambo (if girls were actually impressed with boy's cars) and my mates would think I was even richer than I am, but, the R8 V10 is steal of the century, and you'll get a far younger and lower mile R8 than a Lambo unless you get a pre-LP, whcih is a different car again, and last time I looked, still 20k more for similar mileage for a lesser but "cooler" (and more lambo sounding) car.

Driving - same engine for starters (LP onwards), 4x4 with rear bias? tick, go cart handling? tick, Gallardo E-gear paddle box - same one. There are a lot of similarities, as much as some people dont like the idea. But, that's my win. The R8 V10 is a steal. I'd never expect a Gallargo owner to agree, remotely.
We all like what we like.
I've considered a Galardo a couple of times but each time I conclude I'd basically be paying more for more pose and a much nicer sound (I love the pre-LP lambo engine sound) but a little less performance ( in cars of a similar cost bracket - I'd be looking at pre-LPs) and significantly more maintenance costs. I just can't make it work in my head. But, I do appreciate what they offer, and they are probably one of the most beautiful Lambos out there in my eyes.

Just to clarify it would be a gen 2 r8 plus or lp560. My main thinking is would the single clutch in the lp560 feel antiquated compared to a gen 2 r8 plus or does it add to the drama and experience. My brain is telling me the newer gen 2 dual clutch v10 plus is the smart option but it's not a lambo haha !

My lp560 2 is a keeper, single clutch doesn't bother me... The huracan pre Evo was smoother but boring so I never bought one until the tecnica, which I'll sell before the gallardo
You find the lp more entertaining of a weekend driver than the huracan then ? Also what's the clutch life like on an lp560 its 2013 reg
what i want from a sunday drive.... involvement and emotion not associated with crazy speed that is illegal and dangerous, i dont track my cars
the gallardo is analogue enough to mean i drive the car, its involving and fun at all speeds. the engine has character throughout the rev range. the single clutch isnt as bad as they all say, and the downshifts slowing down are laugh out loud... clutches were bullet proof by 2013, i have 4k miles, no long distance runs so plenty of shifting and its only 5% worn.
yes the technica is faster, but i did the exhaust valve fully open to unleash the sound at all speeds and the downshifting is not as emotive, its a great car, but the gallardo makes me smile more
also, re tech, never used the stereo in my gallardos in 13 years, you know that v10 sounds glorious... dont care for android auto etc either, not in the sunday play thing

Gen 2 clutch will make a much easier to sell car (as journos keep slagging off the single clutch e-gear box on the R8, and the R8 one is programmed to be a bit smoother than the Lambo version I believe?). I have a single clutch on my R8 and agree with the poster above, it is a hoot changing down, and I find it adds a lot more drama than a super slick dual clutch system snicking up through the gears. Depends too on your budget. I'd have ended up with a Gen 2 had I wanted to spend £55k-£60k+ at the time, but as mine is R-Tronic (Lambo E-Gear) I spent £10k less. It'll just take longer to sell.Gallardo is probably safer in this regard as journos are far more forgiving of what is the same gear box on the Lambo! :-)
Quite a good article, though is a very light skim over the details.
Unsurprisingly the 650s comes out top, and a special mention to the R8, "the audi deserves a special mention both for running the 650s close for the most accomplished all round driving experience , and for being outrageous value".
They test drove an E-Gear Lambo which they were rather kind about, "requires some patience to get on with it, soft shoeing the upshifts helps, but not as effective in the Ferrari, and on corsa mode full bore shifts are more violent " - The Audi was a manual, but no doubt if it was an R-Tronic they would have called it woeful, even though it's the Lambo box :--)
I came out still wanting a 650s (selling my R8 at present) but still also hankering over the F430 V8 experience....

I've had a mk1 and mk2 R8 v10, a 650s and now have a Performante.
The R8 is very good and great value for money, but I only had one because I couldn't, at the time, afford a Hurrican, which is what I really wanted. IMO the Hurrican has much better styling. more drama and every drive feels like an event.
When I was a kid growing up your poster car was either a Ferrari or Lamborghini and now I'm fortunately in a position to actually have one. It feels such a privilege and an opportunity that not many people get to experience.
You very rarely saw a supercar on the road back in the day. I was in my late twenties when I saw my first Countach irl and remember just going 'wow'.
At the end of my first test drive in a Hurrican the salesman said "how was your Lamborghini experience"? And that's what it was, an experience. It's hard to put it into words, but you feel like a rockstar and you will never get that feeling in a R8.
I did enjoy my 650s. It's like two cars in one, with the folding hardtop, but it sounds naff and the car is so competent that you have to driving at insane speeds to get any involvement and excitement.
