Ferrari 296 GTB Prices vs F8 488 etc
Discussion
True of the F8, not so much the 488 which is quite a bit cheaper (as you'd expect).
The McLaren Artura also seems not to be selling that well, while the 750S apparently is, so perhaps it is hybrid phobia. I think the fear of needing a new battery has put something of a dampener on some hybrid supercar values, though I'd imagine it's warrantied on these new models.
I would take pure ICE over hybrid any day.
For a start, the hybrid stuff adds unnecessary complexity. It’s simply there to appease politicians. Secondly, you aren’t getting the quoted performance for an extended period, because once the battery is drained it’s just luggage. Thirdly, who wants to be sat on the hot potato of a dodgy battery that needs replacing?
No thanks. Too much risk for very little gain.

Even though I am totally against this woke globalist green agenda (climate change is a natural phenomenon), I think the 296 in particular is an engineering marvel. And since its technology is the result of at least 10 years of evolution, I disagree with your objections, except perhaps the issue of battery replacement. In which situations the battery would get drained? In a fast track lap, the battery is recharging under braking and draining under heavy acceleration, but on the road it will never get drained because it will be constantly recharging.
I have one coming. I drove it on track and it really made me grin from ear to ear in a way that nothing since the 458 (except the F12) did. I'd be happy with it with only a 660bhp turbo V6 but it still feels light and small and flatters the numpty driver like me and honestly the electric stuff doesn't make itself obvious except in the zero lag.

Very silly question, everyone says the 296 GTB is the car to have 820hp it sounds great etc, maybe even a better car than SF90 but prices are well off list and not much more than 488 or F8's or less what is going on here please??
Finance rates are 10.9% from ferrari and I heard a salesman trying to sell in a dealer based on that. That alone will kill deals for lots of people.Edited by RichardCHXX on Saturday 24th February 16:44
Secondly I think its just a bunch of supply all at once. Many speculators will have bought and are now trying to get out. Many will have a GTS arriving now so need to get out.
There's just been a big dump of supply. It's imo a massively better car than a 488 having driven both extensively. I'm tempted by one at this 220k level.
I do wonder how much further they can drop. I think they'd all sell very quickly at 200k and apparently thats what some have traded at in the trade.
I also don't think there's actually that many people in the uk who spend more than 200k on a car. 150k etc is a busy market. 200, 300k etc I think is a tiny market in the uk
Having had a few test drives, I think the 296 is a fabulous thing to drive. However I like to use my cars on trips, tours etc and the 296 would be hopeless for that having only a tiny front boot (much smaller than the 458/488 etc) and no space behind the seats for soft bags. So if I had one it would have to be, realistically, just as a toy for weekend blasts and track days so in my garage it would go head to head with my 458 (I use the Portofino for touring now but used to use the 458) and 1/ I just can’t bear to part with the 458 and 2/ even at current prices cost to change would be at least £100k and 3/ I’d be worried about the future situation re the 296 battery life/replacement cost. So, wonderful as the 296 is I have to pass.

So was that £207k plus £7k fees? Might as well buy from a dealer. CC sometimes seems very expensive for an auction with no buyer comeback.
Agreed, that’s very much in touching distance of what you pay for a dealer car at the moment and the CC 296 is very light on spec compared to many.oo7ml said:
